I'm not sure if this is a database bug, but when I use this database, my board will only allow me to offer 650,000 to players no matter if they are free agents, on my team, or of their status. I have tried it with other teams and the bug is still present. I have removed the salary cap and increased my player budget and cash up to max. Any points in the right direction?

Edit: I forgot to say my budget is at 96 mil.

Just got to free agency in my current game (with the standard NHL36 database & expansion picks applied) and not having any issues so I'm not sure?

Yeah the first year worked fine, it started when Free Agency started in 2019.

I have seen something like this, but it usually is for a day around June 30/July 1 and goes back to normal.

Hmmmm, I'm on July 1st 2019 and have taken over several different teams and not having an issue being able to offer big contracts as free agency opens....not saying there isn't an issue but I still have yet to see this one.

NHL36 Database Update, December 2, 15:00 CDT

Typical update stuff - transaction for major leagues (Vatanen trade included), NCAA recruits, tweaked depth charts, refined future draft prospect pools including lots of updates to young CHL players making an impact this season in the OHL/WHL/QMJHL and some NCAA updated ratings for leading players so far this season:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/clw4jwqr9jmch ... 2.zip?dl=0

Plus I've updated a couple of teams - the Maine Mariners, who being real life play next season in the ECHL I had already included (luckily) as one of my new ECHL teams but I've tweaked their teams colors and included their logos in the file below (standard logo format). I also updated team names/colors for a couple of clubs in the CCHL (Navan and Rockland) that were new this year and had also not been updated. Their logos are also in the file below:

Also due to some of the transactions, the expansion draft results got changed in a few minor spots so here is a revised NHL36 Expansion Draft import file:

I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the game itself when playing a few years along in custom databases, as I've run into this issue in the 98/99 database around 2003 or so. I've always chalked it up to the "team owners" needing to allocate the funds for free agency for you, haha. By July 2nd or 3rd, it usually went away for me and never affected re-signing my own players.

BKarchitect - I have two questions. Is it possible to change Quebec logo to old one ? And can you in next update change fan support from passionate to hardcore (I think it suits Quebecios much better) :)

Changed the fan support to hardcore as requested, database download file is updated

Logo - you can simply swap out in the pictures/logos folder with an old actual Nords logo if you want. You just need to resize the logo...see the link to "Logo Dimensions" in the pink box at the top of the forum. I can do it for you sometime this week if you want but it's pretty easy.

I've been playing with the 1.1 version for a few seasons with Quebec, a lot of fun actually. Taking my sweet time building through the draft. Great job on this databse! :-) One thing I have noticed, is that it is extremly hard to draft RD that are right handed, in my 5th draft for example, there was not a single one ranked. I'm not sure if it's the database or the game itself. If it is a database thing, not sure if it's different in 1.2?

In the 1.1 database, if it's past the 2019 draft (so past a couple drafts in), it's likely a game thing. In the latest 1.2 database, the 2020 draft is stocked with real prospects and there are some 2021 prospects. Of course good RHD are a premium even in today's NHL but there definitely should be more than zero in the top 200 of a draft! For the most part, very young, real prospects in the NHL36 database will play mainly the side of their hand except I do try to make Euros - especially the Russians, able to play both sides and sometimes even primarily their off-hand side as is often the case. But yeah, even in 1.2 - once you get past the 2020 draft, it's going to be mostly CPU-generated players and we've got no control over that.

Did you make sure it didn't unzip them into a sub-folder in your logos folder? That would be one thing to check otherwise I'm not sure why they wouldn't be showing up...

Never thought about that before, just something I happened to notice now as I felt under staffed on the right handed side. I thank you for the reply! It's not a massive issue and your database is a lot of fun to play around with so I will certainly keep my franchise going a while longer. :-)

I've got some exciting stuff on the drawing board for the NHL36 project and wanted to get some user input. By using import templates, my plan is to off various NHL36 "quick starts" that you can apply to the default NHL36 database to create different 36 team NHL worlds. The goal would be for me to continue to be able to update a single database but then have the framework ready so that users, with minimal work, can have their own customized league. Think of it in the same way as the Expansion Draft quick starts I have already released.

Some expansion concepts I have (not saying I'll do them all) - give me some input! :)

NHL36 "The Original"
- Kansas City Scouts
- Milwaukee Admirals
- Quebec Nordiques
- Saskatchewan Whitetails
- Seattle Kraken

This is what NHL36 is now and I am definitely keeping it as the base database

NHL36 "Northern Expansion"
- Halifax Highlanders
- Hamilton Tigers
- Hartford Whalers
- Quebec Nordiques
- Saskatchewan Whitetails

This would be a Canada-centric expansion with those lovable Hartford Whalers added as well. While unrealistic in real life, it would bring "hockey home" so-to-speak and really cover Canada coast-to-coast with exciting NHL action.

NHL36 "Big City Ice"
- Atlanta Thrashers
- Houston (TBD)
- Montreal Maroons
- Seattle Kraken
- Toronto Toros

A market-driven expansion would see Atlanta return along with a Houston franchise and Seattle of course. But the real exciting part here is second teams in Toronto and Montreal as old rivals return to the NHL to square off against the Leafs and Habs. They of course will be set as instant and intense rivals in the database.

NHL 36 "Westward-Ho"
- Houston (TBD)
- Kansas City Scouts
- Portland Beavers
- Saskatchewan Whitetails
- Seattle Kraken

With the population of the continent trending west and still vast swaths of the west with no NHL markets, this alignment would see all 5 new teams (6 including Vegas) filling those voids with a bunch of current Western Conference teams switching to the East to make room.

I am intrigued by the options. Big City Ice is the most appealing to me.

Just noticed that in the latest version of the NHL36 DB the Training Camp (that still does crash, unfortunately) is set to invite some random players on tryouts, and this is something that I personally don't like.

In the older versions of your NHL36 DB this was disabled, right? @BKArchitect can you revert it back to that state, or is there someting I can do to it myself? :help:

Yeah I’ll revert it back I was testing to see if it may eliminate the training cap bug but unfortunately I you saw it doesn’t. I’ll probably do an update later today.

Thanks again for the work you've done on this database, its a lot of fun! I would love to play with the Northern Expansion option (not sure how I feel about the Halifax Highlanders name though), but all of them look interesting!

Which logo / colours should I use for Quebec? I like the light blue and silver with the slick looking owl logo but there is also this modernized classic Quebec logo which is quite nice and I could add some red back into the colour scheme...
