And once again, the Flames lose on the road in Minnesota :( They are terrible in shootouts although they did rally from a two goal deficit to pick up a point. It's a good thing there aren't any shootouts in the NHL play-offs.

Don't worry Prowl, you sacrificed your loss to a more needy team ;)

Great goal by Crosby last night, although he missed that shootout goal chance.

Some great games around the league as well, although I am cheered anyway by Minnesota's win.

Great win by the Bruins last night by scoring three goals in the third to move into spitting distance of the top half of the conference. A big week for them next week with two games at home against the Devils and a game against the Habs on the road.

These guys have been getting points out of games they have no business winning, and I think that says a lot to their confidence. Thomas has been awesome of late and I think that has a lot to do with it as well.

LOL!!!

I think we really own the Leafs this season!!!! If I recall right we have won all the games against them this season, except for one, right???

Its great we are winning games we would have lost for sure last season (see last night and also the game against the Habs the other day!!!)....

....at the end it will turn out that we arent as bad as lots of "specialist" have said at the beginning of the seaon!!! :joy:

The officiating in that game was freaking terrible. There were 17 total powerplays, and most of the penalties were phantom goals or complete BS (like the "even-up" delay of game call on Fernandez). Larue and Kozari were reffing. I hope whoever was most responsible gets kicked down to the ECHL officiating team immediately.

I agree - the officiating was brutal...that first period really killed us because we were shorthanded so often. We need to beat those Canucks tomorrow night though since Edmonton won again tonight and we can keep pace.

I also forgot to mention - congrats to Iggy for goal #300 :)

You didn't see the officiating in the Bruins - Maple Leafs game, they did so bad the commentators kept pointing out penaltys they missed, and they missed A LOT for both teams. More for the Leafs as they got more agressive in the third.

I'd rather see refs miss calls than make too many marginal calls. Too many penalties destroys the flow of the game and it's infuriating to watch a player breathe on another player and get called for it because you know players will get away with it later in the game. I'm sick and tired of players getting called for hooking and holding when they're not actually obstructing the play of the other player! I've seen it dozens of times, this season and last, where a guy taps another guy on the waist with his stick, the other guy continues to blaze down the wing unabated, and the player who taps him gets a hooking call. IT'S RUINING THE GAME! If refs miss calls at least the flow is uninterrupted.

Ya Thunder, they keep missing calls on New Jersey all night tonight but call rediculous ones on Boston, really retarded...

Once again, I think that on the Chicago Boards they only think that they exist.

Topic - Tallon GM of the Year Most speed and depth ever

"He was given a s***** team with limited control, tried to sign players that were dominant or good role players in the old NHL, realized the mistake, ditched the dead weight, brought in talent, made great draft choices and fired a coach that was tailor made for the old NHL."

Half of that sounds like the Boston Bruins. Besides the mistakes!

"Signing washed up vets?? The signings were of the top guys availaible.. Remmber everyone whining that Chicago didnt spend money????? Well they opened up the wallet to the Tops guys available Besides Kariya. And yes he admitted the after the signings the rules changes had a greater effect on slower guys like aucoin.
Yes he admitted that as a mistake but didnt panic and make a stupid move. He aquired depth and skill like crazy since then. Name me one GM that has turned over a team and aquired depth like this in a short time."

Now if you don't bother reading all that, just read the last sentence. Then look at the Boston Bruins Roster from 05-06 then 06-07. Then look at the statistics for the Boston Bruins 05-06 then 06-07. Point made.

Well bottom line, Dale Tallon is not a good GM at all. He focused all his signings on his first line, and on HAVLAT who is injury prone, hes not a Peter Forsberg but come on relying on him?! Hes never even finished a season!! Hes also yet to get another first line center after Handzus. Also, he still hasn't attempted to get rid of Aucoin, that guy is playing patheticly...

Oh but wait this will all change when they sign Peter Bondra!!!

This all always comes down to, in Chicago, that the real reason the team continues to suck is because Bob Puhlford is not a good GM. And no matter who is in the actual named role of GM it's good ole Pully that actually has the final say so for what a GM in Chicago can do. It was him NOT Tallon that was originally named GM when Smith was fired. And ya know what he said "We're going to build the team just like we did back in '67; that team became a solid contender." Now, the two obvious problems there being that first of all Pully and his Billionair Boyfriend Billy Wirtz still think you can do things like they used to in the 1960s. It also shows that to Wirtz the only thing important is to build a contender. Not a winner a contender, contend for that last playoff slot where we can back into the eight seed and get what amounts to several hundred thousand dollars in bonus money. Take both together and you see exactly why the team is the way it is.

I often actually think that Puhlford is a bigger problem than Wirtz himself. Sometimes Wirtz listens to logic/ideas from his staff but if its an issue that Pully has an opinion on all he listens to is Pully.

Woohoo 5-4!

As much as I love the NHL.com highlights was anyone else having the problem that the volume was too low, even when you put it upto max on your speakers?

Nice win for the Flamers last night against the 'Nucks :) I got a little worried when we almost blew that 4-1 lead, but that's now 2 in a row against Vancouver. Iggy's on fire right now and this is the best he's looked since the 2003-04 play-offs. He's really playing great and hopefully he can carry that on because we need him. I still think we're not a genuine cup contender until we get some consistent secondary scoring and a #1 centre. I like Langkow and he's played well, but he's not a true bonafide #1 centre.

Just a funny story to relate fromt he NYR broadcast. Tom Renney came to the employees entrance today at the same time as John Davidson and they asked him for his pass. He said "I'm the coach of the team!" the guy at the door said okay, and I'll have to see your pass. :-p Davidson had to help him talk his way in :-D

Thanks to the Hawks for beating Wild's Northwestern rival Edmonton 4-1 last night.

Columbus did well thrashing the Sens 6-2. I was also impressed by Thomas Vanek's shootout goal on Saturday night-no fancy dekes, just slap it into the top corner.

Right now I'm watching to Caps vs Penguins game....Crazy...caps were leading 4-0 but pens got 5 quick goals now they're leading in the 3rd period, I think a rivalry is born!...Oh and what a goal from Malkin! Let's hope they'll play more games against eachother, it's always fun to watch!

NHL.com has put on good highllights of this one, with several shootout chances shown. It looked a great game and a good atmosphere.

Just got back home from the Flames game tonight and it was a solid effort by our boys :) Iggy was awesome as usual and we took advantage of a sluggish Wild team tonight and Fernandez was shelled...Hopefully, we can continue our hot home play for our 6-game road swing starting Thursday in Vancouver :)
