Issue with exporting then importing player data

Post by clarencecyborg »

Hi,

I've edited a lot of players in my database using EHM Editor, including creating some (new NCAA players for example).
I've exported all the player data thanks to the Export Spreadsheet tool, because I had an issue with something else (competition schedule).
So I wanted to reimport all the player data I've exported before in a new and fresh database, so that I do not have to recreate-reedit players.

When I do that, I have almost 10% of errors in the file. The Editor exports the errors in a _errors file so that I can analyze them, but the "Errors" column in the file is always empty, so I do not understand why there are issues with theses players.

Most of the players (if not all of them) I've created have not been recreated in the "new" database.

When I try to compare, in Excel, a player who have been successfully edited, with a player who has not, I do not find any obvious reason.

I also tried to delete all the players from the database, to recreate all of them through the Excel file : I had a 100% error ratio!

Was there an issue with my export file first? I still have the first database so I can reperform it if I need to add some info on it...

Thanks for your help! :notworthy:

It's really hard to say from the description above alone. Can you upload a copy of your database and spreadsheet?

Btw. I have moved your post to the Data Editing forum as this is where we discuss any editing questions.

Hi there! I have an issue using the editor, I've posted a new topic but maybe here is the best place to talk about it.
Here's the topic I've created: https://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/v ... 50&t=20563

For sure! Here's a folder with the .db and the spreadsheet.

Thanks for having moved this post to the correct forum ;)

Yes I did. If you take a look at the error spreadsheet generated, the first four columns indicate what errors there are:

Image

The error columns are:
  • Staff (Column A) - Indicates that the staff cannot be found in the database (because the "Mode" column is blank, it will default to finding an existing player and editing it. If the intention is to add that player to the database as a new player then you should put "Add" or "A" in the Mode column);
  • Club Contracted (Column B) - The club contracted cannot be found in the database;
  • Club Playing For (Column C) - The club playing for cannot be found in the database; and
  • Errors (Column D) - Miscellaneous errors - the nature of the error will be listed in this column.
In the case of your error spreadsheet, all of the errors relate to staff which cannot be matched in the database. This is why it says "true" in the Staff column (Column A). For example, there isn't any Yeden Abrezov in the database. If you're trying to add him to the database then just put "A" in the Mode column in your original spreadsheet (Column A of your original spreadsheet).

Thanks a lot! It works well now :) Didn't know about this "Mode" column, much easier now!
