Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Is it possible to get Jamie McGinn going?
He is absolute worthless for me in Sabres. He has been injured but after returning from that injury he is 5.83 in 6 games. I know, it's too early and I'm going to give him more time.
However, If he doesn't pick up I'm going to trade him away, if even possible.
But before I do that, does anyone has any advice?

Second guestion is is it even possible sign those KHL superstars like Radulov etc. I have tried but they never are willing to move:/
And last guestion
if u spam/try to trade too many times with someone is there anythin nagetive in there ? For GM or player u try to trade ?
THANKS !

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Can anyone please tell me why I can't sign players? Only this window appears:

To be more precise: I'm playing with the Kings and Zykov is my prospect and it's past Aug 31. Could that be the reason?
However, right now I can't sign any players, not even FAs. The same problem occurs when I try to sign a FA, yet I should always be able to sign them? And the funny thing is that when I try to extend the contract of a player that ends in 2015, and I choose Zykov (or any other prospect) in that window (see here) then it's suddenly possible and I can offer him a contract. Why??
Thanks

Just making sure the obvious is not the problem here: did you try clicking on a status first?

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
1: If they're accomplished you can play them on the wing with minimal issues. The thing you should focus on most is if their skills gel with the other players. For example it's a bit redundant to have 3 great face-off men on the same line.sibes wrote:Hi! Dont know is this right place for these guestions, but didint eant to start a new thread.

2: Some players simply don't want to play in the NHL, the KHL is the second biggest league in the world and the biggest one outside of North America. KHL wages are also competitive to what is offered in the NHL, and sometimes even higher due to there being no salary cap. If a player isn't interested in going to the NHL (like Radulov)
3: There are no negatives in spamming trades, other GM's don't get tired/angry and they'll stay interested in working out a deal. Do note that if you do "offer to all" on an individual player, he might become angry because you're trying to force him out of the club.

I had actually already done that in the past, I have no idea why it didn't come to my mind this time.

That's a part of the contract negotiation process. The player wants to know what kind of role he'd get in your team. Your board might also limit the salary they are willing to go with, depending on the role you've promised the player.

Yeah I know, the weird thing is that I started playing weeks ago and did that, then I had a break because I didn't have the time, and now that I started playing again I had somehow forgotten about thatTasku wrote: That's a part of the contract negotiation process. Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Anybody else feels as now the players are asking for way too much?? Not all of them, some are still not asking enough Id say...EG I have Evan Fitzpatrick as starting goalie and hes superstar, best goalie few seasons in a row and hes okay with 7,8 m py. And I had a winger who scored 77pts as rookie and 44 pts the next season. He was askin for around 9m py so I offered low qualifying offer and let him go as restricted agent. Then during summer he signed for 4m py. Also happened with few other players that they were asking for ridiculous money

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Yea I get this. Had a 2nd line forward asking for 8 m py so I let him go as RFA, he kept asking for high salaries, no team signed him and then he retired at 27 with the message he couldn't support himself playing professional hockey. Feels so stupid that a quite young player retires when he could have been a 1st or 2nd liner for any team in the NHLMauso wrote:Anybody else feels as now the players are asking for way too much?? Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
It's just out of curiosity that I'm asking this and I'm not even sure someone will respond but anyway....Is it normal in the game that teams seems to fail at managing the cap to sign stars players? I mean, plenty of tems IRL have struggled with that and in EHM 07 it was a real plague (like stars getting put on waivers) but in EHM: EA nothing happens!
Currently I'm in 2017, Jamie Benn got UFA and we are september 4th and nobody tried to sign him AT ALL. Same thing happened with Stamkos last year who was UFA in mid-august. Do team AI are set to be less agressive than before when it comes to franchise players signing? I mean nobody would let Stamkos or Benn go for THAT long, even if it's not the teams that drafted them.

Just curious...did teams have the $ available to meet their asking price?philou21 wrote:Currently I'm in 2017, Jamie Benn got UFA and we are september 4th and nobody tried to sign him AT ALL. And when did Stamkos end up signing/how much did he sign for?

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Stamkos was asking around 9 millions per year and ended up signing for 7.5 millions. Benn is askimg around the same range.
I know other teams have their cap space to manage but I'm surprised that on 30 teams nobody dares making an offer. I can't be the only one to have space in the league!
With Benn there is plenty of decent UFA left too that never get signed. I'm just not use to that since the AI in 07 was so agressive on UFAs.

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
When did Stamkos sign? Are these guys missing games?
I think this was an issue last year, haven't seen many posts about it lately that I recall...until now! HaHa
If teams have the cap space and aren't signing such players that's extra weird! and extra "not good"

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Stamkos and Benn are both players that most teams sign if they can, even it they are short on cap space. You make that room if you get the signature on your papers. It makes no sense for teams to be that afraid of the cap.philou21 wrote:Stamkos was asking around 9 millions per year and ended up signing for 7.5 millions. Benn is askimg around the same range.

Season has started and 3 teams just made an offer to Benn after the "waivers period". So I guess some teams were waiting to have more cap space.

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
Not entirely sure this is the right place to ask, but here goes:
I just had a fairly interesting player gen at my youth team (had 2 technicals @ 12 as a 15 y/o), I instantly put my scouts on scouting him, and didn't send him down to the youth team again. Two days later my youth team randomly release both him and the other second best regen. This guy instantly gets picked up by another U-18 team (as in during the load screen), my team won't even show in his History tab, and although the team is happy to sell him back to me, the player instantly just says he doesn't want to sign cause he would find it difficult to leave the club. HE HASN'T EVEN GOTTEN THERE YET, he was literally in our teams dressing room this morning. That is just 100% Kasparaitis. Has this happened to anyone else, and do you know why? So I can avoid it in the future, cause I'm pretty sure I just had several million walk out the door in a manner that seems incredibly buggy. Also I can no longer see any of his attributes even though I could see all of them before this happened.

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
I've been searching around and can't find anything on this:
I can't offer an eight year extension to any of my players. The most I can offer is seven. The total contract is eight years (7 year extension + the current year), but the extension length is only seven. I've checked CPU controlled teams and they do have players signed to eight year extensions (current year + eight). Is that a board thing limiting the term I can offer, or am I missing something?
Please tell me I'm missing something obvious.

If you play in KHL or some rich euro club try to sign Mathias From, he becomes beast. Scored 30 goals for me in KHL and then he signed with another KHL club scoring 40 !!!! goals.

Re: Standard signing, individual player question thread
What league are you playing in? I don't know whether or not the game is programmed so it's harder to renew contracts based on the league's reputation or not, but in the Elite League I struggle to extend a contract beyond 3-4 years! So in my book you're doing really well to get 7Snowmon wrote:I can't offer an eight year extension to any of my players. The most I can offer is seven. I am trying to build my team around a bunch of young rfa's. The issue I am running into is that they wont ask for any contract longer than 5 years. How much room do I have to negotiate with them. Both with price and contract length. To add to this is their a optimal time to sign players?

Figured I'd bump this thread a bit. Three players I always sign from overseas are:
Joonas Kemppainen - quality centreman. Always gives me a 7 or above and a reliable penalty killer.
Linus Klasen - always works well for me. His deking, flair and speed work well in my teams.
Vadim Shipachyov - Second line center that you can get for free? Why not!
One player I always want to sign is Pavel Brendl. In every DB that comes out, he is always rated highly in nearly every category - but I can never persuade him to come over.

Whenever I’ve signed Cole Sanford (Cardiff Devils) in game, he always does well for me as well as Phillipe Sanche (Dundee Stars).
