- Lowered the ceiling of most non-major nation players from 140 to 120

- Prospect Generator reverted back to an older version (from 2023-24) with tweaks and minor updates. After doing some A/B testing myself I feel the more modern "balanced" sheet that the game expects....just wasn't fun! Today's NHL has more players jumping right into the league and making an immediate impact, even down to 2nd rounders in some cases, the PG should be similar. Further tweaks will be made to this generator to add in the fixes to the bottom six/pair type players that are solid in the modern PG.
-- I can say with testing there should be NO MORE gaps in draft quality, you will see impact players in 2026+ right away. No more high potential players with awful mentals or other flaws.

- Removed World Cup and Euro Hockey Tour for now until it comes back for real to reduce the amount of international tournaments the game has to worry about and schedule

GENERAL:
Across the PG, the level of potential ability has been increased to match recent drafts but the quality of players has been much more heavily randomized.
It will be significantly more difficult to find good goaltending due to the added randomization
It will be significantly more difficult to find players that correlate to existing Pivot attributes due to the added randomization
The long-term distribution of current ability will much closer match Pivot 2-4 years into a given save rather than what you see on Pivot day 1.

MENTAL/HIDDEN ATTRIBUTES:
The PG now generates ~50% of its players with random attributes, so they will look like "game regens" as opposed to prospect generated players designed to look like Pivot Day 1 players. The other 50% remain the same as the last issue, but with some minor changes only.
Determination has been lowered by an average of 5-7 points on a 20-point scale across the board.
Consistency and Important Matches have been lowered by 2-4 points on a 20-point scale across the board.
Loyalty, Fighting, Pass Tendency and Versatility are now fully randomized for all players, in addition to injury proneness and natural fitness which have been for some time.
Significant Updates to defensive role and offensive role based on recent research. Expect to see offensive role remain similar and defensive role to drop compared to priors.
Despite increased ability distribution, reduced goalie hiddens/mentals means you should expect average save percentages to drop to the 0.890-0.900 range to match IRL.

VISIBLE ATTRIBUTES:
Goalie Glove and Blocker attributes should be increased at generation
With the ~50% randomization, expect to find far less goalies with balanced attributes

ROLE DISTRIBUTION:
More balanced distribution of player roles
Expect to see some "archetypes" such as "High Physicals", "High Mentals", "PK Specialist", "PP Specialist" and "PIM Gatherer", which are introduced in this version

International Updates:
- Added Euro Hockey Tour and World Cup back in with some fixes. World Cup will go in 2024 with Olympics in 2026, should get a best on best with NHLers international tournament every 2 years.
- Updated WJC-U20 players/staff

NHL Updates:
- NHL Re-rates starting in January, nothing completed yet in this release, looking for help via fan feedback!
- Updates to several 2025/2026 notables

Canadian Updates:

- Changed Junior Preference of CHL league contracted, NHL unsigned players to None from Major Junior. This should allow these players to also have the option of not extending with their junior team and potentially transferring to the NCAA or other College leagues. I have also set all CHL league contracts to 1.2.1900 which should default most to one year to allow these transfers.
-- While there is no guarantee this will work, its a good enough workaround until there is proper game code added to support the CHL -> NCAA transfer rules.
-- Any IRL player that has submitted for a transfer will have their preference set to College as I find them.

Version 9.4.0 (2024/25) (3 February 2025)

Some pretty substantial changes here, please give feedback on them!

General Updates:
- Latest notable transactions and contract extensions for playable leagues
- Implemented new attribute standards based on researcher consensus and applied them database wide except for players over 100 CA and NHL floor PA players. I removed a majority of pre-set attributes, allowing the game to randomize them on start to allow more variation to players based on role. Expect a lot more randomness new game to new game.
-- I am looking for feedback here, good or bad, especially for lower-level league or European focused players!
- Any players with no player-type set have had all attributes set to 0.
- Cleaned up free agent players

Prospect Generator Updates -- thanks ImActuallyAnOtter!!
- In the last release, about 30% players had no physical attributes set. Physical attributes have now been set for all players
- Updated model for anticipation, creativity and decisions implemented as a beta for this issue
- Expect significant changes to be coming to the PG based on Community Poll feedback, these will be included in the next issue

International Updates:
- Updated World Championship top level team count to 16 and Divsion 3 team count to 6 -- thanks filip85!!

Canadian Updates:
- Updated CHL league captains and attendance and processed all trade deadline moves for all three leagues.

General Updates:
- Latest notable transactions and contract extensions for playable leagues
- We no longer recommend disabling "Starting Financial Adjustments" to enable the game to determine and set initial starting team budgets. We hope this will make some playable leagues more sustainable and healthy financially instead of using the DBs set theoretical maximums which might be overkill. More testing and feedback needed from non-NHL EHM GMs!
- Set Natural Fitness to 0 for most players based on researcher consensus, this will enable more randomness with the length of careers for players, impact NHL prospects (161+ PA) should be able to overcome a low roll and be productive into their 30s. Natural Fitness has been manually set for 35+ year old players in top leagues.
- Many attributes have been set to 0 for all players under 161+ PA or potential PA roll based on researcher consensus and testing. Based on our research what the game was setting when set to 0 (let game decide) vs what we had a previous consensus of setting them to manually was not in alignment, we decided to let the game handle this going forward.
-- This includes mentals, as a result players have much more varied personalities
-- Existing NHL stars and notable players will be manually updated as appropriate
-- The intention here is for Current Ability to be the major driver of quality of players instead of static attributes, how I had been doing ratings did not produce enough unique players.

It's a massive 80 club 18 stage monster of a league structure! This needs extensive testing, due to the low reputation of the league it may be difficult to play long term but should be a fun starting point!

Version 10.0.0 (2025/26) (1 July 2025)

General Updates:
- Re-balanced DB based on research done in Pivot for all players under a max of 160 CA/PA to allow for more variation of players and not use set random attributes.
- Completely re-tiered entire database! Several background leagues have been disabled and cleaned up.
- Players have been re-rated on playable leagues, rosters updated as of June 30th.
- Staff updated in most tier-1 leagues and major juniors, staff quality should be greatly improved long term, many coaches/GMs should become NHL viable over time.
- Cleaned up over 10k duplicate/non-existent/retired players/staff.
- Real-life schedules announced so far added for most leagues, NHL schedule will be patched in when announced.
- Several leagues use generated dates instead of a real-life schedule due to game limitations.
- Records_config file updated and expanded, the game will take longer to get started, but with a lot more detail!
- CHL Import Draft to be patched in once completed.
- All NHL transactions/signings as of right before 12 PM ET.
- Certain leagues have been removed from being human playable, we need more time to make updates.

- Added copy of the Free Agent Frenzy DB from July 2nd for use. To use this database copy the zip to Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\database\ and create a folder with the files, this database should show up in your new game list as whatever you named the folder.

- Updated U-20 Four Nations tournament series to modern day single four and five nations tournaments in November.

- Cleaned up NCAA rosters, further updates needed when full rosters are finalized - majority of sophomore-senior classman may not be on rosters and listed as UFA for now and will be fixed before the start of season release in October.

-- This cleanup was needed as some NCAA rosters were over 40 players contracted, resulting in cuts of players and breaking future transfers.

-- We need to fix some problems with current tooling to get accurate length NCAA contracts, part of the problem is how the game calculates domestic college contract lengths, which resets if a player transferred teams within the NCAA.

- Added roster size limit start/end dates for offseason expansion for NCAA teams, should help limit the AI cancelling future transfers when the roster is already maxed out
