Tactics Question

Post by Powerslave »

I've been watching the last few games of my Ducks team with the game view mode and noticed a few things that I haven't been able to change. First, it seems my forwards always opt for a point shot even if they are in prime shooting position. I've tried changing offensive zone tactics as well as giving each forward a tendency to shoot and defenseman to pass. Another thing I haven't been able to change is the way my defensemen check forwards. I notice that whenever my forwards skate down the wings and try to cut on net, most often they will get checked off the puck by the defender. I can't seem to get my defensemen to do this, they usually let the forward skate right passed and try to steal the puck from behind, which doesn't work as often as a good check.

Regarding your last question do you have your defense set to collapse? If not that may get you more of what you are looking for. Keep in mind that's a more risky way for your d to play so they might get beat more often unless they can handle playing that style.

I'll give it a shot and see what happens, thanks for the advice.

Another question, I have line matching set up for home games and it works well in shutting down the opposing top lines. How do you change the tactics around for road games?

For road games you'd have to change your settings, but you could save them and then reload them depending on if you were home or away. Personally I linematch heavily (as I have two lines I match actually) and I don't change my tactics when on the road...
