Shutouts
I was reading the records thread and I noticed people getting as much as 11 shutouts per season. I even saw one person getting 22 somewhere. I can never get my starting goalie to get more that 2 or 3 per season despite leading the league in SP%. Is there some tactic that predisposes goalies to SO? I usually play the Red Wings and other than Lidstrom they don't have very many good D but I usually get a fair share of 1 and 2 goal games. I just can't get shutouts. Anything I can do?

Thanks!esgaroth wrote:My goalie usualy ends the season with around 85% 3.50 and 0 shutouts. Even so I won the cup twice and ended up runnersup once in 5 seasons. I agree with previous poster, winning titles is what counts:)

By the wat, how do you do to win titles with such a pathetic goalie!

Well I was playing Capitals and were using Kölzig the first 5 seasons he was closer to 87.5 really but its still pretty useless. In thoose 5 seasons he had 4 shorouts strangley enough all 4 in the same seasons. The season I am playing now I am using a rookie goalie cause I kind of blew the salary cap when hiring Hossa... In 49 games he is at 87.6, 3.61 and 2 SO. Have to keep in mind I have 2 very offensive lines and even the third line while its better defensive then offensive its not ny alot. This seasons looks like its gonna be the worst but mostly cause Ive got 2 rookies in the first 2 lines and ofcourse the rookie goalie (Been trading for draft pics so its not real bad rookies but they are no Ovechin yet...).By the wat, how do you do to win titles with such a pathetic goalie! Add a top goalie to your team, and your next five years will be 5 titled years!
Anyway I dont know why I had to start ranting about this. The answer to the question is Im scoring more goals then Im allowing, simple as that. Last season I made 360 goals while allowing 260.

Playing in the Central Hockey League is somewhat easy at times when you have great goaltending. I know that as of right now, but don't know for how long, I have 2 solid goaltenders.
One is running with a 1.39 GAA and .965 S% and the other has a 2.09 GAA and .938 S%.
But with those 2 guys and most of my team coming out of the QMJHL, OHL, or college. They'll be taken quickly by their NHL teams that drafted them in previous years.
I think the best season I had with shutouts was 12. I had a goaltender that did that in my 10th season and did it in only 18 games.
