Hamill, Esposito or Gagner?
The 2007 draft is in a couple of months and I´ll probably get a top 3 pick and I´m looking for a future franchise center who can take over after Demitra (playing the Wild). Has any of these guys the potential to center my 1st line between Gaborik and Pouliot? At the moment Hamill is the top ranked player but according to my scouts (ability 17, potential 17) Gagner is the player with most potential.

Always hear your scouts!
And as EHM is a simulation of real-life, you should do as if the situation happened to you in real-life. So you couldn't know which player turns better from others experience
And this way, the only advices you can get are from your scouts.
By the way, a top 3 pick is usually a good one, and you'll get quality if you've made a good scouting trip to pick the right player

Thats cool and all, but basicly you can 95 percent of the time see if a player has any future in the nhl based on his attributes on draft day, regardless of what the scouts might say imo.Shadd666 wrote:Always hear your scouts!

But beware of the last 5%

By the way, you usually won't know many attributes without scouting the player, so you can really judge a player only if you scouted him (so you know all his attributes). And while you have a scouting report on a player, it sounds logical to have a look at it before deciding who you'll draft, no?

Ofc I put scouts on intensive nhl draft, but I mean often players have key weakness like very poor determation and anticipation, yet still the scout high recommend them. They dont seem to factor attributes anywhere near as high as potential abillity, which is fine coz thats the one thing you cant see in game.Shadd666 wrote:AgreeForsberg wrote:Thats cool and all, but basicly you can 95 percent of the time see if a player has any future in the nhl based on his attributes on draft day, regardless of what the scouts might say imo.
But beware of the last 5%Drafting a guy that is superb for his age but who hasn't any room to improve with a 1st overall pick is always annoying
So your scouts are helpfull

Not sure though, as i'm always starting my draft scouting schedule very early and start to take a close eye on it only around january, so when i took a look, i already have a lot of informations on many players.

Is it me or does player development in generel seem alot better in 3.03?.
Looking at the drafts in the 4 first years of my new hawks game, I seem to notice there isnt alot of clear cut superstars at the draft, most seem to have some sort of weakness or flaw they need to work on.
Seems to me young players need a bit more time to mature now then they did earlier, which is great coz it makes it harder to predict who is gonna be the best player in time.
Anyone else noticed any interesting changes?.
Ps. Love the new ratings adjustments! 3.03 Rocks

If they still have their rights held by a CHL team, then you can't send them to the farm until they are 20 (or maybe 19 - I can't remeber exactly). You can only send them back to play the season with their CHL team.Garden Dwarf wrote:finished the draft.
I don't know if i was right but i signed staight away my draftees to play them in my farm team.
However, i can't make them play all in it. Is there a limit of player you can send to your AHL team?

If you can't send them to the AHL through the roster management, then they probably still have CHL (canadian major junior) rights, and either have to play in the CHL or for your NHL team. You should not have to waive young players you have just signed.Garden Dwarf wrote:Well i signed them so they're in my NHL team roster now. I managed to send some of them to my AHL team through the roster management view. But i obviously won't waive them to be able to send them to AHL....

I'm six games into the 2009/10 season, which is the rookie season for Hamill, Gagner, and Esposito. Esposito was my pick at 3rd overall, and he's the only one making a serious contribution (1+4=5 in 6 games, playing left wing on the 2nd line and 2nd PP unit).
I also had a later 1st-round pick in 2007 (either 19th or 22nd, can't remember which), which I used to pick Mike Neal. He improved enormously in the 2008/09 season in the OHL; I now have him in AHL, and I wouldn't trade him straight up for either Gagner or Hamill.
