Franchise Options

I'm not sure if this is possible or if it happens in the game eventually, but does the franchise that you're playing with every really change?

Such has getting affiliates, maybe building a new place, or anything along those lines?

I know that if you talk to the board of directors, you can get upgrades to the practice place and that's about it. They also can make extra funds available as well. But I was just curious to see if they ever will upgrade the home coliseum or anything like that.

Also, this is really weird and I figured I would throw it out there, because this is something that again... hasn't happened to me on the EHM game until recently.

I was playing and a few of my players got suspended and when I protested the suspension, there was a news release about how I was criticizing the officiating of the CHL and so forth. I had never seen that before, even when playing 20 years into it before.

Oh yeah, this is another thing that was somewhat funny. I upgraded the practice facilities in my 3rd season, but noticed that I had the option open again in the 4th season, so I picked that again. The board said that they didn't feel that it was ok to do them again, but the button on the bottom said, ultimatum. Which in my case, I had never seen before, I checked it and it told me that I could tell the board to either upgrade or I would leave the team. So I don't know if the GM status came into this or not, but I found it to be funny.

By the way, I started the game out as just a rec. player GM and had winning percentages of above .700 for the first 3 seasons. Also in those first 3 seasons, I finished with most points and won the championship each time. Then in the 4th and 5th seasons, I won the most points title, but failed to get the championship.

So I assume that I have raised my level to very high, but I was just happy to see some game changes that I hadn't ever seen before. Kind of funny, but weird at the sametime. Anyway, if anyone wants to comment and help answer those questions at the first of the post, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

I'm pretty sure that stuff like that can't happen due to licensing issues.

I could be wrong though...

What do you mean by licensing issues?

The fees SI pays to leagues for the rights to use player names, logos and anything else that belongs to a league. If they have not got the rights to use the names, logos, etc...CANNOT use them. Therefore SI cannot change em.

About the suspensions, I always protest and they always seem to overrule their initial decision after that. Have yet to see them not accepting my protest. Was the same in EHM05 as well.

I'm not talking about them not accepting my little plea for my player, but it shows that I am bagging on the refs in the league. I'll take a picture of it for all of you to see.

I didn't mean to doubt what you've said, just a little sidenote from me, since you mentioned they turned your protest down and I've never seen it before :)
Yeah one would think they'd accuse you of critisizing refs if your protest wasn't succesful. :)

I routinely get shafted when trying to overturn suspensions. For example, in my recent Sharks game, Marleau was suspended 5 games for a spearing incident. I tried to appeal, but the league said no-go. I would say it's about half and half for me - 50% or so of my appeals are accepted.

I don't know if your reputation helps. In my Dallas Stars game, my rep is sky high and like 9 times on 10, I succeed removing the ban. Or Bettman is more kinder with an American fella ;)

5 games? rubbish the most any of my guys has ever got is 2. And only once did I not have it overturned. Phaneuf for elbowing 2 games...out of about 15 times, and 4 or 5 with Brule in one season alone. He has a bit of an edge that boy.
My rep is high now, but was not when most of the suspensions came. Funny how 5 straight final appearances, and 4 straight President and Stanley Cup trophies boost the rep
