happy dilemma

Post by holydogg »

I'm now in my third season with Dallas. I'm having an happy dilemme because I presently have much depth at the center.

Veterans:
-Modano (2 y. left, surely retire after) this guy is my Yzerman, he will die in my organization, I've already lost Zubov because of financial restriction (10M for 2 years with an old timer is toooo much for me :p)
-Halpern (2 y. left) My captain and multifunction center. Usually my checking center but last season finished on my second line and PP, helping Anson Carter having a 50+ goal season.

Experimented youngers:
-Yared Hagos. nice strong all-rounder, not having a big share of icetime. Centering my fourth line, sometime my second when injuries. Seems to be a good second or excellent third liner.
-Blair Betts. More marginal center, can play on left wing too. Mainly my defensive forward with Ortmeyer.

Top Prospects:
-Rastislav Konecny. Big center. Dominating the WHL last season, now being so-so in the AHL. Rated second centre by my assistant GM. Probably successing Modano on the top-line in two years.
-Pertu Lindgren. All-offensive finnish young one. Totally dominating the AHL last season, now having 19pts in 23 games in his first season with Dallas,

I clearly see in two years my center will be: 1-Konecny 2-Lindgren 3-Hagos 4-Betts
But it's in two years. I don't like keeping top prospects in AHL forever and Halpern and Modano are key players!!!

Not exactly sure what you're asking for advice on here?

I don't want to rain on your parade but that doesn't look too good to me.

Mind you I did a fantasy draft but I've got Carter, Connelly, Zubrus, and Halpern but I just traded John Madden away for J. Hecht. Getzlaf is in the minors trying to crack the line up.

I'm now in 2010:

Modano is retired and Halpern is gone, only because he wanted 4M a years.

Lindgren and Konecny are doing good job, centering my offensive lines,
Hagos is my workhorse, being my checking center, and playing on both PK and PP.

Sorry, but my team is doing well, even with two youngsters (the older is 23 yo) as first and second centers. After 25 games, they respectively 24 and 23 points each, wich in a defensively based team, is very good.

Yes, you got carter, zubrus and getzlaf, but wait 5 years, you'll not had the cap margin for keeping them all. My plan was balancing my team, Instead of 1 first line and 3 4th line, I prefered 3 2nd lines instead. I didn't play with fantasy draft, and with these, as some people here in TBL says, it's easy to build a formidable team. I prefer to take the team as it is nowand I'm not munchkining it by trading everybody on day 1.
