Big changes in Leaf town are a coming. JF Jr will be gone. Who knows who else? Raycroft maybe, but the Loafs are going into their 45th rebuilding year for sure.

They'll do exactly the same next year, get someone like ( ;) ) Yanic Perreault for a second rounder in the vain hope of making the playoffs, only to fail and have no future - again.

the problem with toronto as well as montreal.. we cant afford to sell all our players to finish last 3 or for years to get 1st draft picks like pittsburgh did when they were using players such as Eric Meloche on the first line.

We can't lose but we can't win either....
Some years ago, we are on the bottom of the league, they patched it up, we made the playoff by the skin and who we missed on the draft? Ilya Kovalchuk!!! Instead we got oldie Gilmour, Juneau and some other I didn't remember the names

A question to Western Expert Batdad (or any others who can): How was Willie Mitchell season?

Just wondering... :-?

An extremely solid defensive defenseman. Makes some mistakes because of the Canucks pressure system and not a lot of speed in him. But his positioning is absolutely amazing. For a big man, he knows how to play in the new NHL, and took few penalties for the stupid things...hook, trip, interference etc.

I was not sure what we were getting when he came, and was worried about his speed. But he really covers up well with positioning, and makes nice first passes out of his end.

Why what did you see tonight? I missed the game. Darn baseball

I'm unsticky-ing the thread. If people want to discuss their season/offseason feel free to carry on but all current talk should go to the playoff thread.

I have to say it's a shame that Colorado didn't pull it together a little earlier. Their stretch run was amazing and Budaj will be among next year's list of elite goaltenders. This team had great chemistry and heart. They could ahve gone a long way in the playoffs, maybe not gotten embarrassed like the team that made it in instead :-p

I was happy to see the Isles make it in and Nolan should win the Jack Adams as best coach if only for getting Alexei Yashin to actually play like he cares and by into a team system which is a bit like getting the devil to pray ;)
