Players you would never aquire

Post by Systemfel »

There's always talk about what players you want for your team, but how about players you simply wouldn't trade for or sign?

Personally, I would never aquire Jagr. Or Alexander Steen.

Ethan Moreau...Chris Phillips..They always appear unhappy in the game. Villie Leino...Sean Collins... IMO heavily overrated by posters at the board that shall not be named. Any Calgary Flame save Iginla, Phaneuf, Kipper. And Fedorov, Zetterberg, Datsyuk...oh oh I can hear the anger from Sweden. :-D Alex Svitov seems to be a whiner so I do not like him either.

And I learned my lesson with Jason Blake..more on that later in the Assy blog.

A totally unknown guy to everybody, but I would never sign Per Juhl from SønderjyskE in Denmark, and I allways release him on a free transfer at once if playing SønderjyskE, as he is one of the biggest jerks I have ever met back in elementary school.

Yeah, I know it's stupid, but what can I do? :-k

I usually stay away from the mid-30's aged players with huge salaries. You'll never see me bringing in Tkachuk or Weight. None of those guys fit my game plan.

For me the worst player I have ever had on a team is Pavel Brendl. Once you've got him, you can't get rid of him other than letting his contract expire. So, I've made the mistake of having him on my team once, but it won't happen again!!

Other than that, I would never go after Tkachuk, Sundin or Forsberg, but these are for personal reasons. In the case of Tkachuk and Forsberg, I just don't like them and their salary is just way, way too high for what you're getting. Sundin is basically the same thing except that I also think he's vastly overrated (like all Leaf players) by the Toronto media. So, I just don't like these guys in real life, hence I won't sign them in the game.

Zetterberg actually can play quite well if he has a good center. Datsyuk though is terrible.

Alexander Semin. Everytime I made the mistake and signed him he was complaining about referees, ice-time etc.
Players I wouldn't sign apart from him: Jagr, Yashin, Aebisher, Denis, Fedorov, Vyborny, Gonchar, Belfour.

In general a lot of players who don't play physical enough for my taste, as well as old players with a too high salary

Absolutely. In my previous game with the Bruins he was on a line with Savard and had about 220 points in those 2 seasons, almost 100 goals.

Datsyuk reminds me of a pint sized Fedorov or maybe even Yashin. Has the talent to be a true game-breaker, but it is a total crapshoot as to whether or not he will show up on any given night.

If it is a crapshoot, then Datsyuk is not like Yashin. Cause you know he will never show up. EVer. :-D
