Here we go! Canada vs USA Semi Final. Should be a heck of a game. Canada won their prelim match 3-2 in a shootout. So many great players from this years draft (Van Rymsdyck, Espo, Turris, Sutter, Gillies) and next year (Stamkos, Doughty, and several USA players). This is going to be fun to watch. Thank god I am in Canada and get TSN.
What is interesting about this tournament is with the exception of Turris and Voracek's performances against lowly Latvia, no player from this year's draft has really stepped up to the plate. Next years guys are doing some amazing stuff. Esposito is wearing the "C" for Canada though. So maybe, just maybe he will step up his play and show everyone now.
ETA: Cherapanov stepped up against Sweden in the other semi final, scoring a late PP goal to allow Russia to get to the final with a 5-4 win. He was invisible against Canada though.

That's 'late' as in 'at 59.59'.batdad wrote: ETA: Cherapanov stepped up against Sweden in the other semi final, scoring a late PP goal to allow Russia to get to the final with a 5-4 win.

Van Riemsdyk is certainly making a case for himself. 2 goals, and the screen on the third goal. 3-3 right now early in the third.
Kind of slow. But Espo made a beaut of a pass to Turris who ripped a roofer top "cheese" (apparently what the kids are calling top shelf these days.)
Yeah I was wondering if people were paying enough attention to see the Cherapanov goal was with 1 second left. Apparently 14 kids or something on the Swede U18 team are actually 16 and 15 years old. Very young team. This years crop is a bad one for them I guess, just like everywhere else.

I have a new #1 draft pick in mind...>Van Riemsdyk won that game for USA in the shootout 4-3. And he was dominant during the game. I know against young kids, and he is a young kid. But this guy is awesome.
Minstrel---Kane or Van Riemsdyck are the men to pick from. Drop Turris and Voracek down to 3 and 4.
