Challenge 8 team ideas

Post by Calv »

Challenge should be getting started pretty soon, so I'm looking for ideas for the team to play with.
I need you guys to post who you think it sohuld be and why, then I'll put up a poll. I'll post my thoughts tomorrow because I'm going to bed now :-p

Also bear in mind that we'll be using the TBL budget again.

Atlanta or Chicago would be good picks.

New Jersey, Chicago. Devils payroll would be one hell of a challenge....Chicago just cause it would be fun to beat Minstrel at his own game.

We have not really done a 2007 Eastern team. (fantasy one) CBJ, LA

So New Jersey, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Toronto (cause I hate dem Leafs) are my thoughts.

Will this be the 5 year challenge? Because that will certainly have an impact on my team selection. :-k

Right on, in that case - here are my selections and reasons why:

1. The Devils. Simply because their cap issues would force major renovations if our $36 million TBL cap is in effect. Do you say goodbye to Rafalski or Gomez? or Gionta or Elias? oh lordy. :dunno:

2. The Maple Leafs. I agree with batdad. I hate em - but let's face it - they could use an overhaul. How many of the overpaid defensemen do you trade away? What to do with the aging captain? Good possibilties for different directions here.

3. The Lightning. They need goaltending and D if they're to survive. So which of the Big 3 do you move to bring in the franchise goalie?

I'm leaning towards teams with a lot of trading to do. That opens up the possiblilty that we'll all do different things with our teams - which is one of the best parts about the challenges, IMO. 8-)

:toast: Go TBL! :-D

I've been playing a game with the Chicago Blackhawks and I've found it pretty easy, so I'm kind of leaning against them. I've never played a game as the Rangers and they're a team I've been thinking about lately. They might be interesting. They might not need much work though. Like batdad and CatchUp said, I hate the Leafs but they really do need a lot of work. Phoenix and St Louis are a couple other teams that always seem to be towards the bottom of the NHL. We had a St Louis challenge with EHM 2005 though.

I like the ideas listed here, i think the Devils would be a different type of challenge (good team with cap problems vs bad teams needing rebuilds)

Another team i'd like to throw out (forgive me if it's already been used) would be Montreal, they always seem to be a team that doesn't quite get anywhere, and has their own issues, afterall, what better team to revive? Or Edmonton perhaps, in the same vein.

We did Montreal with Challenge... 4 or something, I think. I'm pretty sure it was with EHM 2005. We did Carolina, Montreal, and St Louis for sure. I can't remember the others.

Detroit? From what I've seen, they typically suck unless you trade almost all of the players, plus the $36M limit would make it even harder.

Leafs would be maybe better suited for that big 5 year challenge since as far as I know they haven't got that many hot prospects either so it would take good scouting, drafting and trading for prospects :)

I guess I'd support CatchUp's idea of playing with the Devils/Lightning. But count me in regardless of the team. :)
