Playoff Prediction League 2007

Post by archibalduk »

At the request of the users, I will be running a shortened version of the Prediction League from the second round of the Playoffs. This is going to be an "unofficial" game in that there won't be any TBL points or entry into the TBL Hall of Fame for the winner - all they will have is bragging rights until the Playoffs in 2008 :D

The scoring system is:
* 4pts for correctly predicting the score and winner of the series
* 1pt for just correctly predicting who will win the series

Please note: Rather than predicting the game scores, you will have to predict outcome of the series. In other words, you have to predict how many games each team will win. For example, in the Anaheim v Minnesota series, you would predict how many games Anaheim will win and how many Minnesota will win. So obviously for each series you must predict one team as winning four!

The second round will be up for prediction tomorrow once the Vancouver - Dallas series has been decided. The time you have to predict the outcome of the series will be quite short so as to stop people waiting til have of the series has been played before predicting the winner.

Stay tuned!

The second round of fixtures are up and ready to predict. The deadline is this Friday (27th April) at 11pm (UK time) / 6pm Eastern US Time. The fast-moving nature of the fixtures means that there is little time for us to predict.

As we will only be predicting a total of seven games, I have changed the scoring system. There is 1pt for correctly predicting the winner and 4pts for correctly predicting the exact score of the series.

Batdad :D

The next round is up and ready to predict. You have approx four days to enter your predictions. The deadline is one hour before Game 2 of the Ott-Buf series starts.

Currently Systemfel, Thundercleese and Shadd are leading the way.

The standings have been updated according to the latest Ana - Det series. If Detroit turns things around then the standings could change. If anyone has correctly predicted the outcome then this is another way in which the standings could change...

You can now predict for the final of the Playoffs. You have until an hour before the first game of the series to predict. The first game takes place next Monday (28th May) so you've got plenty of time to make your prediction.

Potentially anyone in the top five can win the competition. Anyone in the top seven still stands a chance of finishing second - so you could still get in the top two, CatchUp :-p

Lets go Anaheim. Cause I can't get on the Ottawa bandwagon. Just can't. I say they are going to lose, and I stick with it. Am I in the top 7? Doubt it.

Hmm..I seem to have to predict Anaheim vs Detroit...so...Anaheim in 6. Chrystal ball is helping me again!

CONGRATULATIONS TO SHADD! He leap-frogged several players to take first place. Forsberg and myself finished in joint second place and Thundercleese and Systemfel came joint third. Because I'm in a generous mood, I'll award TBL points to the top three and I'll add Shadd to the Hall of Fame.

For posterity, here's how everyone finished:

Code: Select all

 1 Shadd666 13
 2 Forsberg 12
 3 archibalduk 12
 4 Systemfel 9
 5 Thundercleese 9
 6 batdad 8
 7 CatchUp 7
 8 Devils88 6
 9 Ramon1982 4
 10 Minstrel 3

Congrats Shadd. Apparently guys who live in Europe, who have to be up at some ungodly hour to watch an NHL game, are better at this than us who sit and watch every game at dinner time (Shadd, Archie, Systemefel, not sure about Forsberg) sheesh.

Oh and CatchUp---NO YOU WON'T. You can't handle me! I Pwn you!!!!

Ungodly hour? Really? Sure, i've been to bed at 5am last night (well, this morning...:D) after game 5 :D But i don't complain as i AT LEAST found a way to watch NHL games instead of just hearing them on nhl-radio :D Unfortunately it has been for the last game of the season, but i think i'll be able to watch more games next year :D

However, thanks all for the congrats :)
