expansion draft

Post by vocquat »

Hi
I have tried to manually play an expansion team but I always find it hard to be the other teams' GM when deciding who to protect. That's why I require your help

For those of us who 'd like to play an expansion team, here is how I intend to see this work.

Using the original database, i will determine the list of players that can be taken through an expansion draft (basically everyone except 1 and 2 year players and unsigned draft pick from 2003 Draft or later).

I will then submit them to you.

You will have to decide who to protect from the expansion draft.

It can be either:
1G, 5D, 9F
or
2G, 3D, 7F

with some special rules:
There must be at meast 1D who played at least 40 games last season (or 70 in the last 2 seasons) left unprotected.
There must be at meast 2F who played at least 40 games last season (or 70 in the last 2 seasons) left unprotected.

Then, post the list of protected players (or send me a Private Message).
I will then determine what is the final protected list.

And thus for each NHL team.

Then there will be a big pool of unprotected eligible players to pick for your expansion team.

If you want to create your own fantasy expansion team, you must select at least:
3G, 8D, 13F.

Then in order to put that in EHM, you decide which team who want to play with, then you take control of all the teams, get the players you selected in your team, and then realease the others to free agency.

In order to be fair, you cannot sign the players you released to free agency that way during the first season.

What do you think of the idea?
Any comments or reasons why this wouldn't work

I will post the list of eligible players for the first team (Anaheim) later today

You can only take control of 16 teams at the same time..and to add in a team, I believe you have to remove a team.

You aren't really an expansion team.
Just a team with an expansion-like roster. You can be the red wings and release Datsyuk, zetterberg and so on to free agency durting the process of expansion drafting.

For the "problem" of only being able to control 16 teams, it' s ok. just resign from the other team after you completed the trade to get the expansion drafted player

No so problems yet
