NHL teams releasing newly signed players
Has anyone else come across this "bug"?
Example
It has happened more times than I can count in my current game. Most of the time they wait a couple of weeks or a month after signing the player, and then release him. This example is the most extreme I have seen.
Mod note: Changed to link to the image site that the photo was on. Please follow the image posting requests we have, and not just embed the image. Thanks

Yes, I am using the Updated Unfaking. I don't believe it has anything to do with the database though - at least I can't see why that should matter. The game just crunches numbers, and because some numbers have been changed a bit should not make the game act extremely differentbatdad wrote:Are you using an edited database? Cause it is not happening to me at all. Ever with the original or the TBL:DB.

It is hard to spot the bug as it does not show in players history because they never play any games for the NHL team. You have to look under achievements. It seems to happen mostly to european players, but they are signed quickly by european teams, so their history page looks complete (they don't miss a seasons play etc.).
My theory is, that when teams sign europeans, then they often don't come to the club until after the current season. If the team has signed to many players this way, then when they all arrive suddenly they are over the cap or their budget, and therefore have to release players again.

Not going to get into any debates about whether or not "number crunch" changes could cause this issue or not...debates have happened enough about that everywhere.
I am just curious as to what database you were using, because I have not seen it in the original db...and I have looked for it because I have read about this issue before somewhere. And it seemed that all the people who had the issue had edited their dbase somehow or other. So unfortunately, because I have never tried any database other than default or TBL:DB, I can't say anything about whether or not the unfaking one could or could not cause it. I have no idea what has been changed in that database or game, so can't tell you why it would happen in your game.
I have yet to see it in TBL:DB (does not mean I won't, I just have not). But anyway, I guess it does not really matter, since the players never miss a season. NHL teams do release players all the time. Just usually not ones they just signed. Wonder if there was a management change between the original contract offer being accepted, and the next Euro transfer date, or if it could be just what you said. Anyway, not really a big deal.

Saw something similar happening in my NHL games on very few occasions, although I'm not really sure it falls under the same category. Sometimes a team would waive a player after acquiring him in a trade with me, I remember once doing a mega trade in my fantasy Flames game with loads of picks, players and prospects involved and one of those players was waived a month later. It has to be said this player was a 4th liner whom I have signed from my prospects pool prior to the trade.
Edit
oh and it appears to me that batdad's question is valid, I've seen it often enough in FM that database changes screwed up other aspects of the game that didn't seem to have anything to do with updating the database.
Not saying that's the case here or in EHM in general, just an observation. You might want to quick sim though 1-2 seasons with the original database to check it out.

I had that happen to me recently using Lidas 1.3, Dallas signed a player named Andrew Clark, a few days later, they released him. I'm not sure it is really a "bug" exactly, I think it's more like they signe a player which puts them over the contract limit (stupid, i know) and wind up just releasing him. I find it usually happens with guys from Europe or Major Juniors that were signed halfway through a season (and thus don't make the move right away).
