Star players going to Europe
Just wondering, who are the best players people have seen move from the NHL to Europe in their games?
I am not so much thinking of europeans going back when they are in their late 30's, but more young players or players in their prime.
In my current game, I have Jed Ortmeyer and Jeff Pandolfo at Luleå in the Swedish League. They make an exellent PK team.
I also often see Josh Langfeld go to Europe.
Not really star players, but very good players IMHO.

Wow, that is cool.jackknife77 wrote:it was DEL . nobody was signing him.. spent the whole year as a free agent and the next year he was playing in europe
I actually think the game has some problems with free agents sometimes. In my game, star players often miss a whole season because no one signs them.

I've seen both Dany Heatley and Joe Thornton in Europe playing in the SEL... If they remain unsigned ufa's for some time, european teams tend make them an offer and they usually accept 'cause they wanna play some hockey. On EHM 2005 Dany Heatley RETIRED after having spent three full seasons as an unsigned ufa. This was something that was fixed for the new version, but that was sick. I was GM/Coach of the Quebec Remparts in that game as well as Team Canada and could select Heatley to every tournament - I made him the captain... Even after he retired I had the ability to select him for certain tournaments, but only the first year of his retirement. I hope nothing like that happens in EHM 2007. Btw, Heatley retired in 2009 on this game...

in my games no stars play in europe, players like ruslan salei go there, and i have luke moffatt (2nd of in this years WHL bantam draft) there, but no noticable stars, people like Daniel Briere have retired, all be it due to injury, Forsberg has retired, so has Rob Blake and Jagr

I haven't seen any of the NHL stars go to Europe in my game. I am only into my 4th season, but I haven't seen any go to Europe in order to play.
It seems like most of them just sit on the free agent list for the whole season and then get signed after the season is over and done with, but a few are signed here and there during the middle of the season.
One weird thing that I did see in my game was that Mike Modano was playing in the AHL for awhile. I actually picked him up and put him on my own AHL club, because there was no room for him on the NHL squad.
Kind of funny, but not really I guess.
All in all, I find it weird to see that happening in your games. Also, if you didn't grab Marc Staal, you are nuts!

You have to try and try again. At first they might say no - or not even willing to negotiate - but as time goes by eventually they will start taking offers from Euro teams. And who they sign with, pretty much depends on team and league reputation.puckman16 wrote:I can't never get any star "holdout" NHL players to sign with me when I'm playing Euro teams. I reacll seeing Joe Thornton as a free agent when running both Krefeld and Magnitogorosk and I could never get him to sign.

I can see that it might be easier to sign those players who are older and just seem to be close to ending their career.
Plus, I see that sometimes you can see that some NHL clubs will be ok with signing someone and then pulling away the offer. That leaves it open for you to grab that player really quickly.
