good ice time + no practice = stats decrease?
I've been trying to develop a good winger on my AHL team by giving him lots of ice time (~25min/game), and he puts in a great effort every night (ave. game rating of 9). Too bad he's exhausted after every game and I've had to rest him everyday instead of training him. Even with prime ice time, will his stats still decrease without training? Should I keep him on this kind of regime or should I ease up on his ice time and have him spend more time training?

25 min per is a a lot ice time for a Defenseman. For a forward, it's tantamount to torture. My top forwards on my Chicago challenge AHL farm team average around 17 min per. This is actually a tad heavier than normal, but they all have good stamina and can take it. He is not learning anything because he isn't being taught in practice so he is just relying on what he already knows and is probably picking up some bad habits (thus the stat decrease). Ease off on his ice time in game and let him practice and learn from you coaching staff. JMO

Yea, 25 mins for a forward is nuts. thats like 45 for a Def (didnt chelios do that in the Conference finals?) Check out his Stamina attribute as well to get a read on how long he can take before tiring.Hypnotist wrote:25 min per is a a lot ice time for a Defenseman. For a forward, it's tantamount to torture. I'm with the Hypno-man and the uh, Saranis-guy.
25 mins is going to kill any forward, especially if he's a prospect. Somewhere in the practice thread (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... php?t=2345 ) I'm pretty sure there is a description of an excellent training regime to use on your younger players. Give that thread a scan and see what you can come up with.
Best of luck and Welcome to TBL!
