Practice drills and Coach assignations

Post by patrickgirard11 »

Hi Guys, i am pretty new in the game , my team is going so bad (Ottawa ), in offense we are not very producting , i dont understand because with the talanted of this team , i mean, there is something i didnt catch. I also play an open ofensive game.

A thing a cannot do is to setting up my coach to different part of practice, when i came back the regular assignation is always the same even if i set up a practice based on Skating and Defensive as example, my personal is alway re-initialise all time i go back to screen 'Practice' , So is there any thing i do wrong , it is so tough, is it better to learn in Junior League ?.

Any suggestion will be appreciate

You probably have set the head coach to have control over practice, in this case you can't do anything on your own apart from distributing general, PP and PK practice time and changing schedules. When you change assignments and leave the screen and go back to it the default settings are restored.

You have to change this in your GM options.

And no I personally don't think that starting in a Junior league is easier than in the NHL. Ottawa is a fairly good team for a newbie, good defense and sufficient scoring talent, however IMO they do lack a proper 2nd line RW.

Junior league are kinda hard to start with, because you have to control the practice drill really well and it's hard to keep a good dinasty with a team as they stat a maximum of 4 years in your team!

that means if you make a change in your tactics.. it will use yours instead of your coach tactics.

Letting the coach decide your tactics usually doesn't get the most out of your players' abilities. For starters, head over to the SI boards and check out their tactics forum. Look for a thread about the Slapshot Tactics. That's a good place to start. Use that for a bit and then try tweaking a few things on your own to see what you can do.

I'm always starting new games. I don't really get very far in one. I've won several Stanley Cups with several different teams. Currently, I just wrapped up my first season with Chicago (check out the Challenge forum for more info or read my blog) and we got knocked out in the conference finals.

Let's keep this thread on topic though. This is just about practice and coaching. Did you check out the tactics area on the SI forums? Like I said, Slapshot is a good one. There's another one over there that's pretty good but I can't remember the name. It's been a whole since I've been over there.
