Overtime/Shootout oddity.
I've had 14 overtime games this year, and only 1 of them has gone to a shootout. Has anyone else had a similar experience? The last 13 OT games have all been decided in the first 5 minutes.
I'm wondering if this is something with the patch, because this is truly bizarre.
I'm in '11/'12 with the new patch.

Yeah, we lean towards the offensive side of things. But it's not like the games were 7-7 going in. Usually normal scores like 2-2 or 3-3.Kekkonen wrote:It is odd, but it could still be just a fluke.
How are your tactics, by the way? You a freewheeling run & gun team? If so, that helps in avoiding shutouts (since it increases the frequency of goals, and an overtime is over the second a goal is scored).

Goalies have of course a very important part in a shootout win or loss. With Niittymäki (i learned to write it correctly long ago, Mr. Tasku!
) you shouldn't have any goaltending problem.
Then it's all about the shooters. Deking, stickhandling, shooting, and somehow flair have an impact. Their ability to endure the pressure and deliver when needed too. I personnaly never set an established list of shooters and choose a different set at every single shootout, depending on players abilities, their condition (if too tired, it may not be a good idea to make them shoot), their game performance (someone who is having a really bad night won't shoot), and how they are doing generally in the shootouts. For example, if i have a superb goalscorer that never scores in the shootout, he'll be out of my shooters list. You can also which of your players are good/excellent on breakaways by asking a coach report on your players.
So there are many factors to take into account, and you also need a bit of luck. Plus, you can never control the quality of the opposing goalie...
Btw, i usually suck in the shootouts

That was exactly the objectiveTasku wrote:Hahah! This final comment kinda takes all the credibility away from what you said above![]()

And well, in the first two seasons of the challenge, i hadn't have stellar goalies like Niittymäki, and my best goalscorer during this period (Havlat) never wanted to score on the shootout, and usually ended without even taking the shot

I always spell Nittymaki right, save for that stupid dot thing going on over the a. What the heck do you need it for? Umglots or whatever...the a sounds like an a without the umglots,so what the heck? Do you think people would pronounce his name Nit-why-makey without the umglot thingies?
Wait..."Nit-why-makey" sounds good...from now on this is how I spell and say the dufus's name.

From now on I will spell it: Knit-eeee-ma..ckey. How do you make those dumb dots anyway? Special Finnish keyboard? With pictures of Swedish girls?
Wait..they are umlauts. And I know how to do them I think
Nittymäki Nittymäki ....ick looks silly. And takes too long.

It appears Batdad may have the same US English keyboard as myself, which does not have the Alt Gr key. Instead, there are two regular Alt keys, so the Alt-number combination is the only way to type accented characters.
However, the right Alt can be made to act as Alt Gr if you go into the Regional and Language options of the control panel and add the United States-International layout. With that enabled, Alt-Q makes ä.

I feel that when you go into OT or even a shootout in EHM 2007. It really depends on the goaltending ability that you have on your team, but then again, you can't win at all if you don't score.
I usually try to get a goaltender who loves to shine and be in the spotlight of things. The reason I say that, because Niittymaki being that kind of rank, he always does great when it is just all on his shoulders. Such as I have found many times before in this game with many different goaltenders.
Plus, when it comes to players that I choose to take the shots. I usually go with someone who can deke well or possibly have a great wristshot. Sometimes that will do it for you, but sometimes it won't at all.
All in all, I mostly depend on my goaltending. I know that all 4 of my players or 5 in some cases will not score at all. That is why I look to my goaltender to stop all shooters on the other side of the rink.
