Answers to previous questiions.

1. Backman has been a disappointment in St Louis. A 1st rounder who has just not lived up to his end. And yeah, 2.3 mill was way too much for the way he was playing.

2. Again, dealing Huet may be risky....but MONTREAL ROOKIE GOALIES SCARE ME.

3. Hossa will sign with Pitt. I still think so. I don't know why I just think so. Likely I am wrong. There is a first time for everything.

4. No deal for the Bruins...cause they do not have anything anyone wants. Save Chara and Kessel. :-p

5. Montoya--Clearly has fallen in many people's eyes. Not as big a prospect as he once was. Cory Schneider is finding out the same right now. Clearly Phx thinks they can get more out of Montoya, and maybe they can. I don't think so though, always thought he was overrated.

Ill agree with Montoya statement... it appears hes fallen short of where peopel thought hed be. I wouldnt bank on him. Nto many golaies make the jump from US college to NHL in recent years as opposed to CHL to NHL. But goalies are a different bredd anyhow!

If Crosby makes 8.7 next year and Malkin and Staal will get heafty raises within 2 years.. Hossa signing for the 8-10 it APPEARS he wants would just eb a bad move by the Pens. Look at thier salary situation right now.. they arent near the cap becuasde the money isnt there to start with. In a salary cap NHL, Hossa was the best available player, but one dimensional and becuase of market, way overpriced. Pittsburgh was in a staring match with the rest of the eastern conference teams in the race, and they just blinked!

Well, the team is really doing good lately (well, really the whole season) and I like that we have a lot of young players in the team. And looking at the AHL, the Baby Bruins are really outplaying everybody down there so it seems we have a bright future!!!

LOL, yeps it surely seems that Sens have problems right now, but Iam sure they will come back!!
I'd rather see Chia sit on his hands and not make any deal than see him make a rash decision that might help us a little in the short term but really hurt us long term. I didn't want to see him trade away all of our prospects or give up on some players too soon. I think he was smart.

Thing is though, in Pittsburgh when they start winning, and winning cups...the money is there. Lemieux era is the prime example. When they win...they spend like crazy. And with a new arena coming (I think that was finally okayed) they will be generating all kinds of extra revenue.

With the NHL claiming revenues are going up (false economy re Canadian dollar, and 6 teams providing something like 50% of league revenues) the CAp goes up again, and the Pens will spend higher to win before they have to give up a guy like Malkin or Staal. So I expect them to spend like crazy in the next 2 years.

Agreed. But you have to figure that with the pens piling all this money into forwards they will run out of cap space for defenseman. They have some guys bakc there that will be wanting money pretty soon and it isnt all that strong to begin with, and it remains to be seen if Fleury will regain his form. Obviosly, Conklin and Sabourin are not long term goaltending solution.

Yep. True. Which is why I said 1 year, and an outside chance at 2 for Hossa.
