Might be because us Euros are used to the home team being first and the road team second, so the author misread it not knowing it's the other way round in NA

Anyway so we lost another...1-0 in OT ugh
One would think if you don't give up a single goal in regulation on home ice you should be able to win the game.

So, I've heard Don Cherry was ranting about the Caps running up the score and putting their top lines out late in the game on the PP. What does the TBL crew think about it ? I for one think it's a bit stupid to risk your best players when you're already up by 6 or 7 a few minutes before the end of the game, but I don't actually mind the running up the score part as such really. DC is lame.

Nah, I don't think so. They're pros reporting only about the NHL, and they know it inside out. It was just me misreading, cause I didn't read the whole news item just the headline.

I don't follow the NHL game-by-game, it's just something on the side for me. SM-liiga I follow passionately.

You know what, Danny? I never realized you were European. I always assumed you were from the Boston area.

As for running up the score, I don't mind it as much in other sports but I'm not a big fan of it in hockey. Hockey isn't a high scoring sport to begin with so at a certain point you should be comfortable enough with your lead that you can play smart defensive hockey and keep the score where it is. That being said, I don't expect a team to stop trying. If the Bruins were playing that poorly, it's their own fault. If you don't want to keep getting scored on, stop them!

Sometimes teams just have to prove a point and make a statement. That being said, most of the time I HATE when teams run up the score. But since Matt Cooke had 3 points, not sure how you can say Washington ran up the score. Sounds like Boston just sucked real bad. IF Cooke can get 3, did Brashear get 4?

Don't know really, haven't been watching the game, just heard Ovechkin, Green and Semin were out on the late powerplays. Cooke got 2 of his points on the first goals I believe. Whatever, I think they're highly paid pros, people pay a lot of money to watch them, so they should play for 60 mins. I just think it's stupid from the Caps point of view, risk of injury to star players and needlessly motivating your opposition, considering you play against them again in less than a week. But yeah usually if you lose 2-10 you suck

Bah... exact same junk the Penguins were blubbering about when they got destroyed by the Flyers earlier in the season, 8-2.

Just a bunch of crying and whining, if you ask me. If you don't want a team to run all over you, then stop them. Put a real goalie in net; a real defence on the blue line; and a real offence in front of the other net. Don't blame your opponents for giving the 110% that fans pay to see.

EDIT: Heck, a few more complaints like this and the league could end up like one big video-game - where it's never the loser's fault for losing, it's the game's fault.

I've seen the Bruins@Caps game... Boston played brutal all night long. And yeah, the Caps put their top guys by the end of the game, but mostly because they let many icetime to their 3rd and 4th lines in the final period, so maybe those bottom liners where a bit tired by the end of the game... Washington stopped to push after the 6-0 in the first period, but Boston never came back to the game... Or more exactly, they never came into the game. They looked absolutely lost from the first to the last second. Those weird nights can happen, no use to blame them all year long for that. I just wish them to be back on track soon. Not that i'm a Bruins fan. But as a hockey fan, i find it boring to watch a game where there's only one team on the ice, no matter who the teams are.

Well it wasn't really a complaint, it was just DC ranting. I just thought it would be an interesting question to bring up in here, I don't think we've had it before

Cooke sucks...big time. Chicken piece of junk. I mean for awhile I bought into the whole "I play the way I do, because if I don't fight it gets the other guys even madder, and I do my job better". I stopped believing that 3 seasons or so ago when he turtled with Steve Moore, and caused the whole darn incident to occur. If he had just pummeled Moore (which he is not capable of doing) then Bert stuff would never have happened and Moore would still be playing.

Cooke is a jerkoff.

Im getting tired of the Montreal media... they have had a 'goalie contreversy' since Theodore smoked the big one and Huet stepped in.

Yet now alot of the media is saying "Why isnt Halak Playing?" and it drvies me nuts!!!

Price wins the first 3 after Huet is dealt and loses in San Jose and some of the media question the Huet deal a s a bad one that will cost us.

As far as Im concerned, if Price can win 3 out of every 4 (Which is unrealistic but the press is being unfair to pain after losing 1 of 4 only.. now 1 of 5 after last nights win vs Pho.. then apples and apples it is!) then why the hell would you want Halak??

Let Price play... hes been a number one goalie playing the lions share of the games probably since he was a pee wee! Why are the media afriad of fim starting most game still end of the year? The team is young and considering alot of people expected Habs out of the playoffs, everything they do this year is gravy!

Yeah, the Bruins had a nice little run going for a while there and since then they've been terrible. They really need to turn things around and fast!

I was informed by media that Halak should be in net for the Coyotes match, and in morning i was happy when i saw the 2-4 result, then i discovered it wasn't Halak who got the win for Canadiens...Halak is slovakian, so he's kinda sympathic, I hope he gets some more games...Slovakian powa!

gah the coyotes game sucked as the coyotes found a way to blow it in the end, tied 1-1 into the 3rd, they make 2-1 on home ice and then proceed to give up 3 goals to lose it. Great job yotes

Course then again it was Tellqvist was in net so...not a big shock (sorry i haven't trusted a yotes goalie, outside of Bryz, since Burke)

I watched the two first periods, but I get always soooo nervous, so I decided to quit watching....and thats probably what saved the B's

We'll be without Big Z today against the Rags. No Ward and Alberts either. So that's 3 out of our top 4 defencemen out. And it's not like we had a lot of depth in there to begin with. This will get ugly.

Pfft....missing 3 or 4 of your top defensemen? Whup de doo. That is old hat around this city.

Just call up Bourdon, find an Alex Edler, and have a McIver beat the rubbish out of everyone. Oh...and if that fails, ask your Alex Burrows or Byron Ritchie type player to play the blueline for a few shifts.

No problem...a real team will handle it.

Witness: Ohlund, Mitchell, Salo, Bieksa,Miller, Krajicek...not once this season since the first 2 games have all of the guys listed played in ONE Vancouver game at the same time. And much of the time we have been missing at least 3 of them. Now the Nucks are down to missing 2, although Ohlund could go back out (bone chips in knee) at any time.

Edler should be rookie of the year. Just because of the fact that he has played 20 minutes per game, and is a top +/- player on the team and plays both sides, and plays pp and pk all the time now. AND he was not even on the team to start the year. Only called up when injuries happened. He was d-man number 8 (Weaver being 7) and for much of the year has played at least as a #3. Screw Backstrom who just lucked onto a line with the best player in the NHL. Screw Toews...well no, he is awesome. But not Kane for sure...he is nothing when Toews is out. And finally, that guy in Atlanta (some other d-man whose name I cannot recall) is the poor man's version of Anders Eldebrink...so yeah..Edler should win it. But he won't.

He is now getting comparisons to Lidstrom. From outhouse to penthouse...the Kevin Bieksa Alex Edler story.

Um, no. Never read that piece of rubbish. But around here whining about missing 2 or 3 defensemen for a game or two, just does not cut it.

Wasn't whining, just expressing my fear it might get ugly because it's not like the Bruins have that much quality back there even without the injuries. The big man eats up a lot of cap space. FYI Dennis Wideman is our #2. Lashoff and Hunwick would be our versions of Edler and Bourdon, with the difference that they're like...not good. Ironically it ended 0-0 and Rags won the SO. Apparently Auldy was standing on his head. Guess being bald helps with that. Won't complain, one point does it for me this time.
