NHL Prediction League 2007/08

Post by archibalduk »

The long-running TBL Prediction League is back for its third season! Apologies for only starting this for the second half of the season - I didn't have Internet access due to moving house and so that's why there wasn't any prediction action earlier on!

The competition is in its usual format: Predict the five NHL games per week and get points for predicting the correct winner and extra points for correctly predicting the exact score:

* Correctly predict the exact score - 3 points
* Correctly predict the winner - 1 point

Simply click on the "Prediction League" button at the top of the header navigation bar to go to the Prediction League page. To join in on the fun, click on the "Predict" button located to the left of the Upcoming Games List. This will take you to a page where you can then enter your predictions for each result. Click on the "Make Predictions" button to save your predictions.

You can keep going back to your predictions before each prediction deadline by clicking on the "Predict" button to edit your predictions.

The Upcoming Games List also details when the deadline is to make a prediction for each game. The deadline for each game is one hour before faceoff.

I'll be adding new games to predict every two weeks and will post an update in this thread every time I add a new set of fixtures.

Good luck everyone!

Looks like I have made my come back just in time for the League 8-) I have entered my predictions, hopefully this time round I will do better as I struggled before with not really checking scores that often.

Good luck everyone.

The next two weeks of fixtures are ready to be predicted. The first game of this round takes place on Saturday 9th Feb.

B.Stinson has had a great start to the competition, scoring 13 pts. Lidas, Jays_leafs4life and D88 are all vying for second place with 9 pts.

I normally do quite well in this but have had a really bad start to this one. ](*,) So long as I beat D88... :-p

The D-man is back!

Off topic, but you oughta hop on over to the logo requests thread... I could use some backup. ;)

On topic now...

Thanks for the reminder on the next set of games, Arch. I know I would have completely forgotten otherwise... not that I'm gonna hold my lead anyway, but still.

The next set of fixtures are now ready to predict. The next game starts on Friday 29 Feb. Apologies for not putting up fixtures for this weekend. To make up for it, there are twice the normal amount of fixtures to predict for next weekend.

Joe Helmer, Crocker, B. Stinson and Devils88 are leading the top of the standings at the moment. It's still a closely fought game.

I'm not too far off the pace - only three points off D88. I'll overtake the Austrian in no time :-p

This weekend's fixtures are up on the site. All games take place this Sunday.

After 30 games, Tasku has shot to the top of the standings. Crocker, Joe Helmer, Stinson, D88 and Corinthian are all snapping at his heels.

I'm only mid-table but there's just three points separating me from D88. There's still a chance to catch him up 8-)

The next two weeks' of games are now ready to predict. The first game takes place on 17 March.

Crocker and Tasku are widening the gap at the top whilst I have shot up to joint third, alongside Joe Helmer and Batdad

The final ten games are up and ready to predict. I had been hoping to have 15 games for prediction but sadly the site downtime means that I can't give enough notice for predicting this week's games. The first game therefore starts on the the 5th April.

WOW! I smoked Tasku in the last group. Maybe he forgot to pick (I did not look). Up to #3...only Archi and Crocker and I regain my rightful crown. :-D

It really is anyone's title at the moment - there's still plenty of points to be won (potentially 30 points) and so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot more movement in the standings yet. Crocker, however, has been consistently at the top of the standings for most of the competition.

I think I've been quite jammy and gotten a good run of correct predictions right at the end. So long as I beat D88 :-p

That's the end of the season! Even though it had a fairly late start this season, we still managed to cram in the usual 55 games. Compared to the second half of last season's prediction league (which was also 55 games), it has been a relatively low-scoring competition - the winner last season had managed to amass 53 points. Compare that with this season's winner of 43 points.

In the final ten games of the season I managed to pip CrockerNHL to first place. It's a shame because Crocker's consistent performance all through the competition did deserve first place. I had a terrible start to the competition but managed to claw things back in the final four or five weeks. Congratulations to Crocker as well as Batdad and Corinthian who finished joint-third. Ramon, who has performed well in previous prediction leagues (he won game 2 and the overall competition last season), finished in fifth place. I'll post the final standings in this thread tomorrow.

Look out for the start of the Playoffs Prediction League which I plan to start tomorrow

I think I've been quite careless (5 points ahead!) and made a bunch of incorrect predictions in the final week. LESSON learned! :-)
Congratulations to Archibalduk for winning the race and disproving arguments that an early hole is nearly impossible
to climb out from! =D> BTW, The Prediction League was a total pleasure for me  Looking forward to start the Playoffs... :-D:-D:-D
