Challenge 10: Which team shall we use?
The long anticipated wait is nearly over: Challenge 10 is coming soon! Now is your chance to vote for one of the teams above. Which team would you like us to use in Challenge 10? The poll will close at the end of Monday 14 April.
Whilst voting is going on, we are putting the finishing touches to a couple of rule tweaks which we will be announcing in time for the start of the Challenge. The most important change is that we will be having a single overall Challenge deadline rather than having individual deadlines for each quarter of the season. The idea behind this change is to let each user play at their own pace - you can play as many or as few seasons as you like before the deadline passes.
We know there's been increasing demand for a non-NHL Challenge and we're going to be experimenting with new rules to prepare for the possibility of a non-NHL team for Challenge 11. It's going to involve a lot of work and preparation and so that is why we've chosen to have an NHL team for Challenge 10. It'll give us the time we need to ensure that our first non-NHL Challenge is as challenging and as fun as possible. When the time comes, the poll for choosing the Challenge 11 team will include two NHL teams and two non-NHL teams. It will thus be up to the majority vote of the users to decide whether we go NHL or non-NHL. Watch this space!

Yeah it will be TBL 1.4.
Once we decide on a team, as archi says we will have tweaked some rules that issues were found with (such as when a player becomes eligible to be homegrown--it will be his arrival with the team, not the date he signed the contract (the transfer date from juniors,college,europe...and he will have to be under contract for a year before being able to play. (on the roster by Jun 30 of the PREVIOUS season..so if you have him on your roster June 2007 in the game, he is eligible to be your homegrown beginning in the 2008-09 season. Once signed you can send him to junior or minors to play. Of course still has to be under 24 at the start of the first season he plays for you, and has to have played LESS THAN 25 games.
Other rules we will deal with:# of games core roster players must play, the enddate of the challenge, tweaking of trading rules (and maybe a completely different option),TBL Salary Cap issues with the expanded cap in the 1.4 rosters, drafting and draft pick rules.
There are likely some other ones, but I cannot think of them now.
Anyway, once the vote is done..we will let everyone know where the new rules are taking us!!

Okay... voting has closed and it looks like the Phoenix Coyotes edged out the Edmonton Oilers by 2 votes!
Challenge 10 with the Phoenix Coyotes will start soon! Keep an eye out for details! We'll be posting some the core roster options and some rule changes soon. We'll also have details of an "alternate method" of playing the challenge... just to make things interesting!
Those people who are looking for something to make their challenges a little more challenging will be interested in this option.
Stay tuned!
