It was Markov, I think, if you're referring to the Reich penalty. I hate it when players are selling calls like that but nonetheless that was a good call. Stupid play by Reich, and even more stupid play by Thornton before. Those 2 penalties killed the team. Annyoing. Bruins were the better team for most parts of the game, just not enough composure in front of the net. Individual class prevailed in the end. Was a difference like day and night compared to the first game. Habs weren't great in the first one either, just had a solid game while the Bruins refused to skate, work and shoot. Anyway, proud of the team tonight.

The dive I was referring to was towards the end of of the second period. I know the one you're talking about too. This one seemed a little more "over-acted". You're right about those penalties to Reich and Thornton being the result of stupid plays though. They need to play with a little more discipline in the next game.
Apparently, Wideman was out with a torso injury. Have you heard any word on that? And what's with Kessel being a healthy scratch? I'm sure he's more valuable to our offense than Reich or Thornton. We need scoring!

Yep torso, well it's playoff time, there are probably only about 3 people on this planet knowing exactly what's wrong with him at this point. Still remember some player being out due to an overall body injury a couple of years ago, that was pure genius.
Phil was a healthy scratch, mind-boggling. Same as scratching Vlad for game one. Claude has done an excellent job with the Bruins but that's ridiculous. The most annoying thing is that over 2 games the Habs have really been mediocre and the Bruins should have stolen one game, and would have done so easily with just a little bit more composure (and maybe focus). Muzz blowing a tyre with a wide open net in the first was symptomatic, as was Hamrlik's goal, including the build up.

I thought the telling point of the Bruins was:
Having Savard centering Lucic and Murray with Hnidy and Ference on the points on the power play. That pretty much says it all. No matter how much I think of Milan Lucic..he is a kid. Ference and Hnidy? God anyone is better.
Oh wait..was that Bob Cole calling the game? Sorry, could have been Bourque and Orr on the points.

That's a good group of forwards to have on the powerplay actually. Kid or not, Lucic is the only strong forward that can actually play and not just hit, and Muzz still has the best shot of all forwards. They just need to stick to the gameplan. As for D, well, Chara can't play 2mins on every powerplay and the Bruins' best (and pretty much only) puck moving defenceman was out. I'd rather have Ference and Hnidy on the points than Alberts or Stuart. Yeah that sucks and is no excuse, but a coach can only work with what he has. Of course, ideally there would be a certain Patrice Bergeron playing the point...batdad wrote:I thought the telling point of the Bruins was:

Yay. Loved the effort tonight. Loved Timmeh, although my heart stopped after a few of his "saves"
.
That was quite a sick pass by Wideman. Great play by Schaefer for the goal as well, very underappreciated player, just as Axelsson.
Gotta admire the Habs fans, helped to create an absolutely brilliant playoff atmosphere, that's what playoffs hockey is all about, motivated the Bruins fans as well. The place wasn't rocking like that for ages.

I was out all day yesterday and when I finally got home, I turned on the tv just in time for the start of OT. I can't believe I missed Lucic's first playoff goal! I was scared there for a bit. There was just too much action in the Bruins end. The Habs were really bringing it to them in OT. That was such a sweet play to win the game though. I think this may have been a confidence booster for the boys too. The Bruins played well in game 2 but came out of it with a loss. Now they got a good win in game 3. I think they're going to come out strong and play a great game in game 4. They've got some momentum going now!

Has anyone seen the Sharks@Flames game 3?
3 minutes into the game. 3-0 Sharks with just 5 shots on Kipper. Good night Calgary. Kipper out, CuJo in. Then Phaneuf wakes up the team by knocking Marleau violently along the boards and make him bleed. Same things a few minutes later, but with Sarich in action, still on Marleau, this time with a nose bleed. Once awake, the Flames were everywhere and patiently made a comeback, to finally win 4-3 and re-take the lead in the series! What a game! I get to bed at 7am (stupid timezone differencial!
), but it worth it!

I wathced the Calgary-San Jose game and I must admit, it was one of the finest come-from-WAY-behind victories I have seen. Those two hits slammed the momentum to the Calgary side. It would have been even more dominating if the flames hadn't taken some ill-timed penalties. All three games I watched last night were good nail-biters (MON-BOS; NYR-NJ were the others).
Speaking of the Rangers game, Sean Avery is a walking advertisement for revoking the Instigator Rule. If I was a Devil 4th liner, I would have taken a suspension to punish that rubbish.

'Nucks can Nonis. TSN.
I personally think this is madness. The guy pulled off one of the most lopsided deals in NHL history. The number of games the Canucks lost this year due to injury (mostly to the D) is ridiculous. There is no way Nonis can be blamed for this year's performance. Last season, they went to the 2nd round. It isn't like this franchise is in free-fall right now...
I thought we would have heard that Martin had been canned in Florida by now...but not Nonis.
I wonder who they have lined up to replace him??
