Cheapest team to win the playoffs??

Post by Qikdraw »

I'm just wondering who had a team that won the playoffs but had a very low salary cap? I'm thinking of starting a game where I cannot have a player making over 2 mill. Or maybe 1.5 mill. Has anyone tried anything like that?

I've done games where I have a very hard self-imposed Salary Cap (much like the challenges, I guess). Somewhere along the Cap floor.

At those games, though, I always end up with a bunch of defensive, tough forwards and defensemen, a good goalie and a multi-million star that single-handedly carries my offense.

I just won my first cup on Monday morning, so I am not quite yet at the stage where I would be comfortable trying to win without a few *big name* players. I would certainly be interested to hear stories from people who have won the cup with relatively low-salary teams though.

Lowest cap i have ever won the cap wih was 34mil and change

Lehtinen and Morrow where by big name players i had them at 3mil each (6)
i had Neidermayer on defense for 4.5mil (10.5)
I got Kopitar from L.A and he was making under 1mil (11 and change)
I had Henrik Lundqvist as my starter at 3.9(14.9)
Then i had guys like Fistric,Grossman, Robidas, Niskanen, Vlasic that equalled up to about 5mil(19.9)
my Support Forwards were
Eriksson,Lundqvist, Langenbrunner, Pavelski, Ryan, Stempniak, Kane, Toews, Conner, Kostisyn.
total 12mil (all were under 1mil except Langenbrunner) (32 and change)
My backup was Smith and he was 1.2mil (34 and change)
first round was against SJ won in 7
2nd round against Minn won in 6
3rd round against Ana won in 7
4th round against NJ won in 7

I am trying to remember the lowest cap number that I ever hit when having a winning season or getting the Stanley Cup in the end.

I assume it was maybe around 35 million or less.

I had a 34.71 mill team win the cup in the Chicago challenge.
