Getting Open vs Off the Puck

Post by StarboardWinger »

I recently installed EHM07 on my older computer, and I found that the attribute named "Getting Open" has changed to "Off the Puck"!! I wonder what causes this change? I patched it to version 3.0.4. I'm dumbfounded by this and I really want to see the attribute be named as "Getting Open".

I don't know if its because of the patch or is it because of the Europe vs NA version of the game?

Problem solved. Turns out I only need to change the language setting from English to English (US)...

Yes, it's language dependent.

I believe it used to be the same all around, but then they split them with 2005... or late 2004, can't remember.

Yeah, I don't know why, but the main sport I ever hear people talk about being "off the ball/puck/etc" is Basketball, so maybe they thought "getting open" would make more sense. I know off the ball is big in "soccer" so it may have made more sense for the EU crowd

And Sports Interactive (the company that made EHM) is a European company known for their football (soccer to me) management sims. So it's natural that they would use terminology that is familiar to them.

Yep, I also grew used to it being "off the puck" since when SI announced the EHM franchise I started playing FM (Which is a great series by the way!) so it made sense to me, but when they changed it to "getting open" i never batted an eye. I honestly didn't even notice the change until I downloaded and was trying out the attribute Excel sheet for the Coyotes challenge.
