haha, the big lumbering defenseman is on it's way out :P But I know I felt that way about Craig Ludwig, I mean, he is a great player, great at blocking shots, but if I ever saw him pinch i'd cringe :P
I remember watching Ludwig skate during the later OT periods of the cup-deciding game in 1999. I think right then and there he reached some sort of a cosmic point of absolute slowness -- you're not still, but you're not moving quite fast enough to outrun a patch of growing grass.

Oh, and congrats to the Wings. It was a victory well deserved. I still hate you, but you earned this one.

1. Ludwig was only good at blocking shots because his shin pads were as wide as goalie pads. I think they are on display in the Hockey hall of fame.

2. Congrats Wings and Zetterberg. I hate that team, well not really all that much anymore...but now at least no more talk about Euro Captains. Well, with Lidstrom and his lack of accent...someone will probably still talk about it. And while some may have wanted Ozzy for some reason (personal feelings) to win the Conn Smythe--no one in the NHL has been more deserving than Zetterberg, perhaps ever. The man was a force everywhere on the ice.

3. Refereeing helping the Pens? Right...sure...but it did not help the Dead THings and Holmstrom's ass is always legal, right? The PEns are the second best team in the NHL this season, and had Malkin showed up in the final (not to take away the fact the Wings shut him down well) they may have been the best. Without anything to do with reffing. They are one hell of a young hockey team, and they will win the cup in the next 2 years.

" In the crease ... out of the crease ... in the crease ... "

Very Funny. I like how mad Fleury was at the end. ;)

Well deserved win for the Wings. I'm not the first one to say this, but even if i hate them, they totally deserved their Cup! No doubt.

And as for the Pens getting a preferential treatment, sorry, but i don't buy it. Sure, there has been some questionnable calls against the Wings during the Finals. But there has also been some against the Pens. There are always questionnable calls. For every team. In every game. Yes, refs make mistakes. Not as much as the players, but they do some. They know it, they admit it. Players know it, and have to do with it. And unless humans become perfect (which is not likely to occur anytime), refs will make mistakes. So you'd better live with it and start to focus on more important things, like hem?...the players? the game? Well, things that matter...

As for those who can't believe the Pens went so deep in the playoffs... Crosby, Malkin, Hossa, Fleury, Gonchar, Malone, Roberts... That's enough reasons to go deep! Add the likes of Orpik, Dupuis, Conklin (excellent when Fleury was out), or even Letang from time to time, and you get a scary team who has what it takes to go really deep, and will very soon go deeper. They've been a dominant force all season long in the East. And if it hasn't been for Crosby and Fleury injuries, they would probably have been even more dominant! Detroit was dominant in the West, Pittsburgh was dominant in the East, and both made the Finals. Nothing surprising or shocking here. And clearly nothing to deal with any kind or preferential treatment.

Now it's time for those boring to death summer months... Thanksfully, the QMJHL had the good idea to keep all their games available to watch at any time on THIS site (go to the "Live Games" section and select a date on the calendar before selecting the game you want to watch). It will help to go through summer faster :D

Yeah, and the FA market is less than a month away from now, but both don't taste like a real hockey game... Unless someone lays a hit on Bettman at the draft, of course :D

Did these guys do some playoff commercials years ago? Or are they immitating those? Still hilarious :P

Of course, whenever I think of people being miced up I think of the Laroque fight

Shad, I found that page for the "Q" as well as a similar one for the "W" and the "O", are the archived games from this season going to be free on that site (at work right now)

And stupid question, but how much of those games is broadcast in French :P

Congrats to the Wings. The better team won it. It was a heart-stopping moment at the very end when the Pens came oh so close to tying it up.

I don't think there's any referee conspiracy. Every team gets good and bad calls - nobody's perfect. The Pens could have had every decision in the series go in their favour but that still wouldn't have changed Detroit's defence being on top form.

I've moved all of the discussion about the streaming hockey tv links over to our Steaming Hockey Links Thread.
