It will make a league more attractive to players. If you have a league reputation of 1 then very few players will be interested in joining a team in that league.Whereas if the league reputation is 20 then it will help teams attract the highest calibre players. Of course, the team's reputation will work in conjunction with the league reputation.

I'm not sure whether league rep will affect a how many fans attend a game. It might do...

You can see the effect of league / team reputation when signing players in Finland and Sweden for example. These leagues have comparably low wages, but get alot of good Euro-caliber players lured in, because of their high reputations. German DEL league teams can pay way higher wages, for example, but they still often get outbid by smaller teams in Finland and Sweden with lower wages.

This is quite common in real hockey world aswell, believe it or not. Finnish SM-liiga and Swedish Elitserien are considered gateways to NHL more so than the Central European leagues, who can pay higher wages for their stars. They do however often lack depth in their roster because of this unbalance in their wage policy.

I find this happens alot playing in the ECHL. I will offer a player £18,500 & an huge bonus but he'll sign for a LNAH team for £10,000. VERY frustrating!!
