TBL racing season 4?

Post by joehelmer »

Anyone interested in another season of TBL racing on BATracer?

I'm up for one more, as the last three has been fun to do, this time I know though that my brother can't join, but I will.

Some new carsets has been added and some has been updated, ChampCar v.2.0, you can check them up here: http://batracer.com/ . And let's have a poll for which series we're going to race when enough people has shown interest for this.

Personally though I think F12008 would be best, but if more than 22 wants to join we have to race another series. :-D

Never heard of it.
What is it exactly?? An online sim or somethin?
Is it a box version of a car race game? Does one have to buy it or is it open source?

It's a online sim racing game, where the players do the setup and then the game simulate it. It's free, if you don't want Kool Tool which are giving some privileges, as always when it comes to online games.
I don't know these privileges exactly as I don't have Kool Tool, but there should be some info about it somewhere on their site, I will look it up.

Here's a quote about the game:
BATracer is a browser webgame similar to some racing manager style webgames. However, it is unique in that gameplay centres around the player as the driver, rather than the team manager. This introduces multiplayer team work as an important part of success.
I will also put up a list with the different series when I've put the list together, I really hope there will be more people interested to join, as it was fun the three seasons we've done so far. :-D

I'd definitely be interested in another season of this! It has always proven to be a blast.

Selne - just to add to Joe's response: You just fine tune your car's setup for each race during the testing and qualification stages and then you choose your race strategy. You have to work with your teammate to get the optimum setup for each race. It doesn't require too much commitment - maybe five or ten minutes every other day.

Thanks for the adding Archie.

I've done a table with all the different series:

Code: Select all

Series: | Minimum # of players: | Maximum # of players: | Maximum players per team:
F1 1986 | 14 | 28 | 2
F1 1997 | 10 | 24 | 2
F1 1999 | 10 | 22 | 2
F1 2002 | 10 | 22 | 2
F1 2005 | 10 | 20 | 2
F1 2006 | 10 | 22 | 2
F1 2007 | 10 | 22 | 2
F1 2008 | 10 | 22 | 2
Champcar Championship | 12 | 24 | 3
Champcar Championship v.2.0 | 12 | 24 | 3
MR2 World Series | 8 | 16 | 2
A1GP | 16 | 30 | 1
V8 Supercars 2006 | 10 | 31 | 2
BAT Seven Challenge | 10 | 24 | 3
BTCC Generic Championship | 8 | 16 | 2
I don't know if it's good, but I tried my best. In BTCC Generic Championship there's 2 classes with space for 8 teams in each so it can be between 16-32 players in that series, the best to thing to do, if we play that series, is to fill up one of the classes and then start filling the other one, IF there's more than 16 who wants to join, which I doubt.

F1 has always been good fun but perhaps it would be nice to have a change. V8 supercars might be quite cool. Otherwise maybe BTCC (like you suggested) or A1GP?

Do all of the competitions have teams?

Not A1GP, there you race for a country, and you're on your own, I've been doing it before, but grew tired of it as you don't have any one to co-operate with. BTCC is according to me the best, it can be because I'm the leader of one right now. :-D

Join the site and join a public game, so get a feeling of what it is about. :-)

And to practice until it's time to race with the real racers from TBL. :-p

You can register and then we will create a private league that you can join. Once we have enough players then we will start the season.

BTCC sounds really good. I reckon we could get enough users interested in it

Yeah, that's the easiest to get enough players for, 8 isn't impossible to get, I think we have been like 10 for the earlier seasons.

I'd be up for the A1GP, have us paired up and designated into countries would be good as you'd have a team-mate and opponents. Don't mind though.

The problem is that you don't have a team-mate in A1GP, you're on your own.
Otherwise that one would be great.

Then we're five who's up for this season so far.

For those who are professional racers, is it possible to see the teammate's settings without loading them?
The loading overwrites my own settings and i would like to avoid it.

I noticed the cool tool storing feature but is there any other possibility
or would i have to write my settings down before loading teammate's settings?

Thanks in advance!

No, the only way to see them is to load them.
The best is if you share your test results with you teammate, like this:
Wings
F 80 - 100
R 50 - 60

Suspension
F 0 - 40
R 22 - 34

ARB
F 18- 40
R 44 - 50

Ride H
F 60
R 65 - 68

Tyres
F 31
R 50 - 90

Gears
36 - 50

Brakes
15 - 20
To save yours I'm afraid you must write it down, if you don't decide to get Kool Tool. :dunno:

Wow, joehelmer, that was a fast answer!

I followed your advice from above and joined a public game.
Now there is only 5 hours left and my teammate doesn't praktice and also doesn't react to my posts on team talk.
The next races will be very interesting for sure!
I will have to nudge some of the others from behind to get some points.

He can come back to later races, but he can also be gone, but then you will get a new teammate in a few days.

The race and the qualifying is every second day, first the qualifying then the race. But you can give the teammate in our private game your user name and password so he can do the practice for you.

Yeah, this is what we've been doing for the past three seasons and it has always worked out very well. One teammate covers the other and vice-versa. It means you can participate even if you only have internet access (or time) for only part of the week.

Nick - do you want to be teammates again.

I don't know if you guys agree, but wouldn't the best thing to be to team up "rookie" with a person who's done this before?
And if there aren't enough rookies then we can team up as we want. :-k
