Do any of you guys subscribe to The Hockey News. If any of you do what are your thoughts on the magazine? Last year, overall i was happy with it, but recently i have been very upset about the quality and quantity along with other things.
For starters they sell their list of subscriber names to other companies so i have received a bunch of rubbish, like flyers and such.
Now i wouldn't be upset with that if the magazine was actually worth the money, but it isn't anymore. Sure the few articles are good reads, but recently there are less articles, and alot more advertising. (there are also many times i never recieved it, but that isn't THN fault)
On top of all that, instead of a new issues coming out every week, it is now every 2 weeks. So now I'm fed up with THN.
The price keeps going up, the number of advertisments increases which means less articles per issue, the quantity decreases from a new issue every week to every two weeks....
What about you guys? What are your feelings on The Hockey News
Any The Hockey News Magazine subscribers here?

I'm on my first subscription of THN, so it's hard for me to say about the changes, but i was pretty shocked, when i received the first few copies. The advertisements take up almost half of the whole magazine. I like the magazines articles though, at least most of them. I have a digital subscription, so i've had no problems on the delivery. But all in all, the price still seems a bit high, since most of the magazine is just advertisements.
Are there any other magazines of this sort one could consider?

I too enjoy most of the articles, but i just can't believe how much the magazine has changed is the past year. It's really upsetting and dissapointing.
as far as exclusivly for hockey i don't think so and it doesn't seem there are alot of people complaining.
Also Anyone who subscribes to THN gets the digital subsciption too so i would recommend you also get them delivered because it doesn't cost any more money...you might want to consider that.
I look forward to reading them Every two weeks but it just isn't worth it anymore...this will be my last year i subscribe unless they change back to their old ways.

I'm content with my subscription. Can't say I've even noticed the increase in ad space because it doesn't interfere with my reading. It's not much different than commercials during your TV viewing, only you don't have to sit through magazine ads to get on with the articles.
I've only ever had a problem once with an issue that didn't come my way, and that was this year's Future Watch special issue. All it took was one email, and I had my copy within a week.
I think that any issues (Pardon the pun) with THN is the same in any facet of media publication. I'm not going to dissuade one from stepping away from reading, but I am still happy with the articles and information. I do consider quality to be more important than quantity. Unless said quantity was more quality, then there may be cause for concern
