No problems spending less than the salary floor!?

Post by gmacneil »

Thought I would try the St. Louis Blues this go around and won the cup the first season with a $32 mil salary, so I thought I would try to win the next season with only $28mil - the salary floor. So I cut salaries initially down to about $25mil pre-season, and thought I would try to find out what would happen if I tried to play a league game with that salary; well below the league floor.

Well, the game let me, which was a suprise since the game will stop you if you try to play if you are above the cap.

So i figured I would see what would happen if I tried to play the season with the $25 mill payroll, so I went on vacartion for long periods and simmmed through to the end of the season. Lost in the second round of the playoffs.

But, no complaints from the game or otherwise that I was below the salary floor.

So my questions are:

1) What happens in the NHL if you are below the floor? Can you be below the floor for periods of time as long as by the season end, you have spent up to $28mil? What are the penalties for going below the floor?

2) Does anyone know if there are any penlaties in the game if you go below the floor? Because, I have not found any so far.

3) And as a side question, in the game if you go over the cap, you can't play your next game. What happens in the NHL if you go over the cap?

Thanks in advance!

1)In the NHL you can play when your under the floor. If, at seasons end, you have spent less then the floor you have to pay the difference to your players then.

2)I don't know how the game handles it.

3)You forfeit any games you'd be scheduled to play.

I've found in my current franchise that it doesn't do anything if you're under the cap, only the asst gm warnings when making a trade, although yes, you can't move on if over. Playing as Bruins right now and first two seasons I was under cap all season and in third I was over at one point.
