Finished pre-season a whopping 1-5. I do believe this would be a decent team without all of the injuries. Maybe we'll find out if that's true...come February!

Let the regular season begin.

Managed to win the first one. I also had Sillinger retire due to his injury (also got a $2.2m payout from the insurance company).

I'm hoping Sillinger doesn't retire in my game, so I can trade him for a youngster

Of all the nights to leave the game open without saving, I choose the one my 'puter decided to use to update and restart. Back to the end of training camp...

Yikes. That's bad. Two people who have been set back due to game crashes. I save after every game!

Well I finally made a trade. It was a minor one but I think it will benefit me. I felt that I needed to add a little toughness to the team (I kept Fritz down on the farm) so I traded Hilbert for Carcillo, straight up.

I have never experienced a game crash *knocks on wood*, so hopefully it will stay that way through the challenge

Just to be safe, I highly recommend that when you finish a season and log the stats for that one, keep a backup of the save. Even better, you could keep a backup of your save after every 20 game segment, deleting the old ones once you get to the next segment. Last challenge somebody (I forget who) had their save become corrupted after they had 2 seasons played and they probably could've played a third if they hadn't run into the corruption. They had to stop there.

Just made another deal. The Maple Leafs were looking to cut their budget and I was able to take advantage. They had Niklas Hagman set as available due to financial reasons and Dominic Moore was just a spare part. I was able to get them both for only Frans Neilsen. I had been trying to land them before but Toronto had "roster issues" preventing them from being moved.

Nice moves, I am trying to stay off trades for now, I might unload Weight at the deadline for promising youngster(s).

My biggest problem right now is PK. I have worst PK in the league, and I am also getting most penalties. So you can imagine what consequences it has :-/. Problem is that I was trying to ease off, by putting aggresivity to normal on every line, and adjusting puck pressure as well, but still getting a lot of penalties per match. Might be something with coaches discipline or whatever attributes...

First game of today's sequence - 6-4 win over Ottawa :-D. Also, Tambellini is on for a 46 goal run this season. Hopefully he stays hot :-o

As much as I'd love to unload Weights age and contract, I'm a bit afraid to ship him out. He's leading the league and averaging about 2 points a game for me so far. And what's really surprising was that I was this >< close to bringing in another superstar in his late 30's. I just got a bit concerned about what my payroll would look like after Sillinger and DiPietro came back from their injuries.

Well Weight doesn't play such a big part in my team, I am gonna miss his defensive attributes most, hopefully I can find fillings in off season.

I'm surprised Sillinger sticks around for some. Both times I've begun the season (before and after I lost the save - putting me back on September 19th) he's retired on October 5th. Weird.

So I have some nice young players now

Center position is the biggest problem on this team, besides goaltending.

When i get to the 20 game mark, do I need to post my results or just wait?

You post your results and the necessary screenshots, then you may continue at your own pace.

You're supposed to post your results (and required screenshots) at every 20 game mark (and end of season) in the appropriate thread, just like section 3 of the rules says.

I have finished second segment of year 1. Guys went from 3-14-3 in first segment to 8-9-3 in second segment, which is quite an improvment. Tambellini & Sim are positive surprises, Tambellini leads team in goals and points and if he keeps the pace, he's gonna have a 50 goal season, while Sim is second in scoring. I was surprised that my guys can pull out turnovers, they erased deficits like 0-3,2-5,2-4 and went on to win these matches.

But guys, check this out, and this is not for weak stomaches:

Image

Dannis out for 3 months, MacDonald got recently injured in game for 4 months, and DiPietro is day-to-day for god knows how long. You gotta be McDavid-ing kidding me.

Just courious guys, who are yours positive and negative surprises so far?

OUCH!

That's rough. Make sure you get screenshots of the injuries for Danis and MacDonald. You'll have to make callups from your AHL team to replace them and that's going to leave you under your 2 goalie requirement for the AHL.

Tambellini has been a surprise for me too but he's been sidelined for the past couple weeks. Sim has been decent but not consistent. I don't have any other real surprises.

Just got my 1st 20 games logged in stats. Not too bad! 8-)

Quick question: My two NHL goalies are now Mannino and Scrivens, which is my young UFA signing, and rule say I cannot let him play in NHL his first year. Does 3 injured goalies count as a irregular condition and does that allow me to let him play? Screens are gonna be provided, but I am done with playing today so I will upload them tomorrow.

Yeah, I suppose it does. Scrive can have a start or two, but make sure Mannino plays the majority.

Oh...and check out my challenge blog challenge participants? THere is a question there for ya to answer! :-D

Danis and MacDonald are TERRIBLE!!!!!!!! After allowing Nashville to tie the game at 2, MacDonald let in two goals on consecutive shots, so I replaced him with Danis...

...who promptly let in 2 goals on the first two shots he faced.

I'm about to drop to 0-6-0. My special teams are atrocious and I'm still months away from the returns of RDP, Witt, Martinek and Weight. Add to that Joennsu and Comeau both got injured in game. I was originally going to let Okposo spend some more time in bridgeport (0-3-0 BTW), but that became impossible when Weight went down.

This team has ZERO defense, and there ain't much available as the trade window opens. I'm trying to do SOMETHING, though.

Danis has two straight SO's for me now. That makes three in the first 12 games, of which he has only played in 8. :-D
