EHM online

Post by boscos33 »

A friend and I were trying to connect together online using EHM v3.0.4. we've been searching forums for all different solutions and we came up with port forwarding and firewalls as the only problem people were having. After I enable port forwarding and disabled my firewall, we were still unable to connect. We also found that we had to use the IP from www.whatismyip.com instead of our network IP. I was wondering if anyone else had any problems with connecting and what they did to fix it.

also, i'm running on vista and he is running on XP if that makes a difference.

Also, does it matter if we use different databases?

You must use the same database if you are to play the same game together.

And the host should not have a folder within the database folder. In another words, you can't have more than one database.

We used the same databases and we both tried hosting and we couldnt connect for some reason. any more suggestions would be great. i saw on a message board a long time about about XP users needing to download something that allows it to connect but that was a long time ago and i couldnt find it again.

also, do both people need to enable port forwarding or just the host?

Yes, Hamachi. But I find all you need is to not have two databases in the database folder, and it'll work just fine.

Won't work --> EHM\data\database\LidasDB1.2

Will work --> EHM\data\database\

If you want to use some other than the default database you need to move the files from LidasDB (or what ever you're using) to you database folder overwriting the default, instead of keeping a separate folder for it.

Yeah,we both only have one database in our folder. we just copied and pasted the new database to overwrite all the old files. We have been struggling over the past year to get this going online and we are fed up with it. I know what you mean about the two databases though, however, we are able to create the game, but the other person cannot join it. If we had the two databases it would tell us that we werent able to create the game. Like i said, we both tried to create the game and it wouldnt let the other person join. If someone is interested, maybe if the hamachi doesnt work, i could set up a time to try to join someone else's game and see if its his connection or my connection...?

Okay, just making sure you didn't miss it.

I also have been struggling with this for a long time, and the point I just made was exactly what my problem was.

Obviously, not the problem in your end.

The host needs to have port 10093(I think) open. The players joining the host doesn't need to have the same db since everything is read off the hosts comp.

The ip off that link you supplied is probably right. Your network IP is likely 192.168.xx.xx which is your address across your router only.

Hello, I am also having a little problem with the EHM 2005 online games. IPs and connections work very well, but the problem occurs when I actually go to the match screen. The match is processing at the lowest speed possible and I cannot change the commentary/game speed etc. at all! It would be really annoying to play a 100 game season with each match taking some 15 minutes to complete. What can I do?
