Unable to send Tavares to AHL

Post by Kujo77 »

I hope this question hasn't already been asked, i looked through the forum for about 20 minutes and couldn't find an answer.

I'm playing as the Maple Leafs and using the updated database (so that i have the leafs 08-09 roster). After bombing my first season i was able to draft Tavares, I quickly signed him to a three year two-way contract, but now my only options are to play him in the NHL or send him back to the CHL (which I'd rather not do). Is there anyway to send him to the AHL? Also I'm having this same problem with Luke Schenn and another prospect who's name escapes me at the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the rights are held by a CHL team you can't assign your prospects to AHL or ECHL until they become 20 years old. ;)

I had the same problem but I thought it had something to do with two-way contracts? Can someone please fill me in on that I'd really appricate it.

Alright so here's the deal. In real life the NHL and CHL has an agreement that anyone under the age of 20 plays in the CHL or the NHL. This is why if a team still holds rights to a player under 20 you can not send them to the AHL or ECHL.

Jtavares, as for two-way deals here's the scoop on that. Two way deals really affect nothing. the only thing they do is lower the hit and the amount being paid to the player while they are playing in the ECHL/AHL. This is often done with guys who will split time between the NHL and AHL. Otherwise two-way contracts do nothing. They do not affect waivers, or a players CHL eligibility.
