Getting kicked from the job

Post by pugge »

Hey all. I was just wondering what the board base their decision of when they fire their GM's. I had 16-4-x when they kicked me and we were doing just fine. Sure their goal was to win the stanley cup, but the team had just started the season and in my opinion we were definatly going in that direction.

Sometimes, it's messed up. For example, if you win the cup two years in a row and post very impressive records in the past two seasons, two losing streaks in the next season could mean your job because the board has stratospheric expectations. Other times, you can join a losing team and keep losing and still have your job with the board happy.

Usually, you at least get some form of fair warning before getting shown the door.

yeah i did get a warning, but i won 3games and then lost one. Then i got kicked. Thing is that the season before i tanked, trying to get a good Pick in the draft. So i hadnt played that well the year before.

Sounds to me like your board just wanted to be the first 82-0-0 team. :-D

I always untick the "human sackings" setting in the game options before starting a new game! :-p

Boards can be unreasonable when the fire you. I was playing as AIK and I got them promoted to the Elitserien in my first season then lost in the finals in my first SEL appearence. The next two seasons won the SEL but after losing multiple key players to the NHL I came in sixth and lost in the second round. The board thought of it as a terrible run and fired me... ](*,)
