Gotten the ball rollin, but man, the D-men aren't exactly high caliber. As a result, pretty much everyone that can either be sent to the AHL or Juniors that didn't make the top two lines was sent there. I even sent a bunch of guys to Dayton, to help them feel good and have success. So far (11 games in) Selanne is a BEAST... and this team can sure score. We'll probably make the playoffs, but when Matador would need to be on the ice in the Stanley Cup Playoffs... well, it won't last long. Maybe then all of the kids in juniors will come back just in time to give Parker and Mair a nice warm spot in the press box...

And now Tkachuk nets his 50th (actually his 48th, 49th, and 50th... it was a hat trick) goal in his 56th game.bruins72 wrote:Ugggh! So close!

I thought I was going to get Selanne to have a 50/50 season. 50 goals in 50 games. He scored his 50th goal in game 52. So close but yet so far.
Doan is sitting at 37 goals in 56 games. There's still hope for him to get 50 too.

Just goes to show you - Montador is a +6 in our first two games... guess my season isn't realistic, eitherbruins72 wrote:He's no big loss! You'll probably get better performance out of Smid or Stralman if you call one of them up.

There's another case of how this game varies from person to person. One person's tactics and lines might get one result and another person's will get another. Good job at getting results out of him! I haven't been able to do anything with him.mustardstew wrote:Just goes to show you - Montador is a +6 in our first two games... guess my season isn't realistic, eitherbruins72 wrote:He's no big loss! Yes, I am way below it ($3+ million?) - guess we have a lot of salary on the farm and in juniors...Asher413 wrote:Has anyone else had to work hard to stay above the salary floor? I may have to get Bobby Ryan playing just to keep me above it.

Not thrilled with calling Ryan, etc. up at season's end... need them for SA's Calder run...
How does this work (in game, and Challenge, I suppose) - if I have to call players up, are they stuck there? It's letting me play right now... when will it stop?

First season over, and the Jets are Stanley Cup champions.
Had a great draft, picked up loads of promising players.
1. Jacob Josefson
2. Zach Budish
3. Toni Rajala
4. Tim Erixon
5. Igor Revenko
6. Daniil Sobchenko
7. Philip Samuelsson
Went tier 2 for my UFA signings. Since my PK was really bad, I decided to pick up two defensive defensemen.
1. Rhett Warrener
2. Hal Gill
I have already set my goals for trading once trading is allowed. I need a 1st line center and a 1st line RD. Dont know if that will be possible, guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I like your signings Lidas, I was also thinking about improving my defense through Tier 2, but I am still just midway in Season 1 so I have to wait a whileLidas wrote:First season over, and the Jets are Stanley Cup champions.![]()

I decided to strengthen defense, too. I send my offers to wide range of players and finally snapped Derek Morris (RD) for 3 years, 4M p/y
The runner ups were Rhett Warrener, Niclas Havelid and Jaroslav Spacek.
I mostly preffered RD to LD because I think left defense is OK and doesn't need such big improving (Pitkanen, Keith, Smid).

My season is a real rollercoaster so far. Going from a decent 11-6-3 segment to 6-11-3 in next 20 games and then climbing up again with 11-4-5 in games 40-60. My defense has really improved, now only if I could score more goals, and win more shootouts
, seriously, how to win shootouts? I am 1-9 when it comes down to them. They cost me fair amount of points!

EXACTLY as my first season was. Fortunatelly, the rollercoaster was rising when the playoffs time came so I won the cup from 8th seed in west.gibson41 wrote:My season is a real rollercoaster so far. About the shootouts: I didn't won a single. Selanne failed in all his attempts throughout the whole season! So did Tkuchuk and Toews. So I started to send there players like Pitkanen, Latendresse or Steen but with no success. Maybe my whole team was too tired - I don't know. I really lost every shootout (11 total)

Just finished my first offseason. My main goal going into the summer was to improve my PK, look for a top pairing RD and get more physical.
I think I had a decent draft. I picked:
Carter Ashton
Brandon Kozun
Ben Chariot
Taylor Doherty
Hubert Genest
Brian Dumoulin
Kenny Ryan
When the trading window opened I made a trade with Toronto to get Jason Blake and Phil Oreskovic. Blake had a bad year in season 1 but he has pretty good attributes and he should be useful on the PK.
In free agency I originally wanted Derek Morris but he wanted more than 4 mil so I decided to go with tier 2 and try to sign PJ Axelsson and Rhett Warrener. Unfortunetly both guys rejected my offers so I had to change my plan yet again. I ended up going with tier 3 and signing Jed Ortmeyer, Nolan Yonkman and Mitch Fritz. I'm sure I could have gotten players just as good through waivers but I didn't want to take the risk.
All in all I don't think my offseason was too bad. I managed to bring in some more toughness and maybe make the team a bit better in our own end. I didn't get the #1 RD I was looking for but maybe I will be able to get one when I am allowed to trade again.

My first year was downright horrible. It seemed every week I was losing a player to injury, especially Toews and Selanne. I think for a week or two I was missing those two Numminen and Tkachuk at the same time. I ended up with the #2 pick overall and took Matt Duchene with the pick, although I should've taken Victor Hedman (who fell all the way to 8th!). I'm looking at a pair of defensemen as my UFA pickups, anything to help my porous D, but I may also pull off a trade or 2 to help me out.

I don't think I'm below the salary floor, so I can't say for sure how it will work. As for the challenge, there aren't any rules pertaining to this. It's just the normal bit that doesn't allow for trades or UFA signings yet. If the game lets you play without reaching the salary floor, it's okay for the challenge too.mustardstew wrote:Yes, I am way below it ($3+ million?) - guess we have a lot of salary on the farm and in juniors...Asher413 wrote:Has anyone else had to work hard to stay above the salary floor?
