June 21st, 2009 --> The Day The World Ends

I'm a noob and am having some serious problems with my game. Serious as in: June 21st, 2009 is an unreachable date. Every time I try to sim to the day AFTER the third season draft is completed, my game simply shuts off. I find this really frustrating since, you know, I want to go to season 4. Just thought I should ask to see if there is some silly mistake I am making or if there is something I can add to my files to fix this.

As well, I should mention the fact that quite often I get this little message saying that certain files are either "locked or missing", but so far I have had no problems and thus have ignored it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Patch: No idea, how can I tell?
Version of the game: Windows

I know little of windows. I am a mac guy that lost his game and is borrowing his brother's windows copy. If you can help i'd appreciate it, just explain how to determine which patch I am using and I will do anything I can. I am going to install 1.5 now and give that a go for a bit.

BTW: I would LOVE to repurchase EHM for mac. I know a new copy won't be coming out, but can anyone tell me where I can buy a 2007 edition in Vancouver, Canada? I don't currently have a Credit Card, so it would have to be in person, not online.

The game is only for sale on internet, so you need to ask someone to buy the game to you.

Right, you cannot buy boxed version of the game.
You can purchase it (read here) and then patch it from here (either Mac of PC patch).
Maybe it would be enough to patch your current copy of the game

There shouldn't be any need to re-purchase the game.

I have no experience with this problem, but the first thing to do is make sure you have the latest patch installed. To check, I believe you can go to the 'Preferences' screen, and it should say in there on the screen's subtitle: "Version 3.0.4 - Purchased" or something like that. 3.0.4 is the latest patch. 3.0.0 is the original release... which is a very bad version to still be using.

If you do have the latest patch, try starting a game with the default database (EHM is prone to problems when using edited databases), and see how that runs.

If it still crashes even on a default database, unlicense the game (!Important), and re-install it altogether. Then re-license it and try it again before adding any third-party content.

My guess is that it's a simple matter of not being patched to 3.0.4, or it's the updated database.

I have the same problem. First it couldn't get past Aug 30th 2008, so I tried an earlier save. Then it couldn't get past Aug 26th 2008 so I saved on the 26th under a new save spot and I got past Aug 26th but couldn't get past Aug 27th. I've tried every save using this database. The database has 11 added players (I'm doing a Create a Star thing), I REALLY don't want to start over. I tried other saves that used different databases and they all worked when I simmed a few days

I can't do the license transfer thing because I used the 2nd one when my computer crashed about a year ago. Any other suggestions?

I can't edit it my post but I managed to fix it! Sorry if double posts aren't allowed but this might help people who have the same problem.

I had to delete the back up sims that are made while vacationing. Like "filename_1.sav", I removed them and simmed using the primary save file all the way to September 1st and it worked!
