Maybe. But sometimes I've seen that "special" title used in the past when a person is given the title but doesn't do the job typically associated with that title. I could be wrong in this case but I've seen it happen before.

That's interesting, cause i think that he will play in AHL next year, with low wages. In KHL he could earn lots better money.

Maybe he just want to play in best league in world and maybe he wants to be known elsewhere than just in Russia.

Marleau has been stripped of Captaincy at San Jose. That can't be good for morale... Does this mean that he will be traded? Or does it now mean the pressure of leading the team is now off and he'll improve?

Marleau really should start to play more EHM, he would get his confidence back quickly!:-D

Todd Bertuzzi signed contract with Red Wings.

His last years has been poor, but maybe he can make more goals when he plays in 2nd line with Valtteri Filppula and Johan Franzen/Tomas Homström.

I doubt it being this is his second go around with the Red Wings. Still I wish him the best I want to see him succeed and he'll probably be a third liner. But I still think he can be effective on the 1st line powerplay since he's a big guy and won't really be pushed around so he'd be a good fit in front of the net.

Stephane Yelle goes to Hurricanes with one-year-contract (550,000 USD). Good move from 'canes.

And it's rumoured that Chris Chelios is going to KHL (SKA St. Petersburg is going to make a contract with him). I think it's better for Chelios to retire than play in KHL where game is very fast (you know Morozov, Suchinsky etc. and you know Chelios speed and you know that rink is lots bigger in Europe than in North America).

I just don't understand why Chelios hasn't retired. Is he desperate for cash? He's a shadow of the player he once was. He really needs to just retire already.

The Yelle signing was a very good one. He's a great face off center and he's excellent on the PK. I wouldn't have minded seeing the Bruins re-sign him.

Chelios said in one interview about 2 years ago, that he's not playing for cash, he just want to play so long as possible cause he loves hockey so much. Maybe he thinks that it not matters in which league he plays.

I have to say that if i'll be famous hockey player, i could think same. Only minus is that you can't see your wife/girlfriend (and kids) much cause of long distances in NHL, KHL and in other leagues, even in Finnish SM-league and Czechs Extraleague.

I can understand his desire to keep playing, but Russia? You would think that if the KHL was his only option, he would just retire. Playing one more year, but having to be half a world away from everything you hold dear does not make sense at his age.

If he wants to continue in the NHL, he should retire and become an assistant coach, i'm sure he gonna find a job pretty quick. I'm very impress that he's been able to play at the age of 47 but now it's really time to retire Chris!

Maybe he wants to break Gordie Howe's playing age. Howe played till he was 52.

I think I read that even if he went on to play till 52 he would retire the day before he would break Howe's record, that's what he said.

Well if Chelios does go to the KHL (which I would love to see) then in his mind he has the ability to play. I don't see him being a bad player in the KHL seeing he could be an effective defensive defenseman and stay back on the rush. If he ends his career in the KHL though that would be a pretty depressing ending to his career. Personally if plays well in the KHL (should he go to the KHL) I really want to see him get like a 1-year deal with the Hawks or Canadiens to end his career it would certainly be fitting. And the Habs still need a real classy player on their team.

Mike Sillinger retires. I think it's good for him cause his last seasons has been difficult, especially last (2008-2009: 7 games, 2 goals, no assists, +/- -5, no penalties).

I hope that he will be assistant coach for some NHL-team.

The recordman of the most team played in the NHL retires! The 12 teams he play with are the most for a player in the NHL history! It's not really the type or record Sillinger wants to have tough.

Yeah, but it isn't he's fault. He was unlucky (or maybe his family was

). It's not easy to move to new city few times in year

. And it's not easy to adapt to new cities (for him and his family) and teammates (for him) if you move few times in year

Honestly, i don't think Sillinger will be the type of player who is jersey gonna be retire. Plus, he never past more than 2 years and a half with a team except for Detroit who he pass 5 years but never make 30 pts and + per season. Sillinger could be a great player for a team but not the ''great'' who see his jersey retire.

I think that's good for him, cause he wouldn't have future in NHL.
