The Thrashers are already rebuilt ( since 10 years lol ) and without Kovalchuk, i can't see this. They could never get from Kovalchuk something enough to built around, not like him. Atlanta must keep him or the franchise is dead.

Even that Koivu were supposed to make Selanne to his points record or something... I cant figure how he can make 1.6 points/match this way. :dunno: Never mind.

But can they keep him? If he decides he doesn't want to re-sign, he's a UFA after this season. What if he decides he want to go to a team that is a Cup contender?

Also, I think Atlanta could get more "pieces of the pie" without Kovalchuk. They've kind of got all of their eggs in one basket with him.

Ah sorry i didn't see what you mean like this. If he don't want to sign, it's sure they must trade him, to get something interesting. Even if they can't get something as strong as him, they could have at least 2 good player for him. Because it's not so easy to replace a 50 goals scorer and somebody who make 90 pts almost all alone.

philou21 wrote:He hit him with his elbow not with his shoulder, that's not hockey at all. Sorry but a big clean hit don't knock out a player like Booth was, even if it's not the fault of Richards. Plus he hit the head, not the body.
Look at it again, Richards did have his elbow away form his body, but it was his shoulder that made contact with Booth's noggin. What caused the damage was the fact that Booth had turned his head back to the right, just before impact and it snapped his head back to the left. That torsion is what caused his to lose consciousness. That said, it still looked like an intentional headshot. Richards should be suspended for intent to injure.
Jypfan92 wrote:Who remembers, how Darcy Tucker hits Sami Kapanen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E1EaHOQre0 These hits aren't hockey.
I remember watching that. It was a clean, diamond-hard hit. The effect on Kapanen made it look dirty.

You want to see a dirty hit? Remeber Domi's Intent to Injure Scott Neidermeyer

I mainly agree with Hynotist on the Richards hit. However...Ray Ferraro pointed out on the radio here that there is NO RULE in the NHL that assesses a penalty for a shoulder check to the head. Yes...it can be determined, as it was in the game that the penalty was a 5 minute interference penalty. And this can (And was) reviewed by the league. The mitigating factors in this are

1 David Booth. david Admired his pass, David was crouched down low. David was not protecting himself. (Similar to a guy spinning his back to the middle of the ice as a forechecker moves to him...that player is partially responsible for putting himself in that position)

2. The equipment--This is a problem, and has been for awhile. Not sure what Richards wears but shoulder pads....but these are a nightmare, and many wear them with an undershirt that is also padded. And the elbow pads have caps on them that are hard as rocks. This MUST be outlawed.

3. Richards intent--Richards was late with a pseudo clean hit. it is shoulder and Booth's positioning makes it look real bad,. Watch Roenick on Off the Record on TSN. See what he has to say about it. Richards does not intend to hit Booth in the head, Booth's positioning causes that to happen.

Does this mean I think Richards should have been off the hook for what happened? No. He should have been fined like Ovenchicken was for his slew foot.

Head shots and Slew foots are the two most dangerous things in the game. The NFL manages to regulate and rule against them without taking out the hitting...so the NHL should be able to as well. Yes the game is faster, and there is less room...but umm...have you seen the line of scrimmage?

Tucker's hit was clean, but i'm sure that Tucker knew what happens after that hit. Those hits are unfair.

Peter Budaj has been diagnosed with the H1N1. It's nothing that really matters but i thought it was good to know. For the moment nobody in the Avalanche seems to have it. Just hope it will not degenerate and like half of the team will get it. But nothing to worry about i think.

Hope so. Budaj isn't in Avalanche's roster in next 4 matches.

At some point every single NHL team will have an outbreak of this. All sports teams will. It will just mean guys are out with the flu. Going to be lots of chances for minor leaguers to get a shot.

Heh. Too late for guys like Smid, Quintin Laing, Budaj...and of course those are the three. Doctors seem to be saying the only strain of flu going around right now (at least in Western Canada) is the H1N1. So....you could also say Brule, Comrie have likely had it. Brule said he was basically unable to get out of bed he was so sore. This means to me he was experiencing the "I was hit by a mack truck" symptom of H1N1. He also had an outrageously high fever...again a symptom...that seemed to go away, then come back. All like the H1N1 strain.

So...I am thinking it is alot more than just the three confirmed cases. Kyle Wellwood as well had a flu. Since H1N1 is the only strain going around out here...take your conclusions from there.

In English Premier League (soccer/football not hockey) two teams has H1N1. Blackburn Rover's 3 players are out and Bolton Wanderer's 4 players are out. And in French League (again soccer) Paris St. Germains few players are out and they had to cancel their last game.

Maybe that happens in hockey, too, but it gives good chance to 3rd/4th line players and juniors/farm players (if they are healthy). But sure, 1st liners can be healthy and 3rd/4th liners are out. Everything is possible. :-k

Shocking. That was two days ago, as yesterday I was thinking about making a deal in the hockey pool, and I clicked on his name and saw that he had got hurt the night before.

Did you see the face of Tortorella when Gaborik was going to the bench after geing injured? :-p It was like a big f*** what am i gonna do without him. lol But you know, the Rangers take the risk to sign him. They won alot with him and he was doing well. Now let's just see how long he is injured.

Doug Weight as the H1N1 too and it's seem that Luongo is injured ''indefinitely'' with an unknow injure.

Any of you guys read the story about the Toronto Maple Leafs fan that finally got so frustrated that he auctioned off his team loyalty on eBay? Pretty funny story...

Yeah, but that's soccer and nobody cares that the teams didn't get a chance to play to a pointless 0 - 0 tie. ;-)

I don't think Luongo is much more. Did Giguere make something like three straight season with an average of shot of 2000 shots and finish with over .915% ??? Biggest season Giguere as know is 1800 shots. I am not saying Giguere is overated not at all but the people saying that Luongo is overated i don't get it. With the Panthers he prove more than one time that he was a great goalie, i mean look at his stats!
