I am waiting like everyone else, i didn't ask for an early release, or demand a release date, the question was posted 2 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago it was implied that it might be another 2 weeks. I know he didn't say 2 weeks, but 13 teams, 1 team a day, I did the math like he said, it equals 13 days. Not sure why everyone else asks, I ask once and get the attitude, some people have asked for an early unfinished product, I didn't, just posted the question if it might be released sometime this weekend.
Im sure you didnt target me for attitude, and Im not trying to start a verbal war, I enjoy this site, and these forums, and everyone who works hard to make the game playable every year, and if I was asked to, I would love to help for future assignments, I got the time. It was a simple question, and believe me, if I knew it would upset you, or Lidas, i wouldn't ask.

I finished all NHL prospects a few days ago...
The only thing I have left before I release is the 2010 and 2011 drafts. I know I said earlier that I'd wait with the drafts until the 2.1 release, but after testing the DB a couple of times, I found the 2010 and (especially) the 2011 draft so dull, with hardly any prospects at all. I know that many users find the draft to be one of the most exciting parts of the game (at least I do so), and therefore I have decided to do some work on the drafts before I release 2.0.
I'm going to work with creating players over the weekend (I'm know that I'm not gonna be able to create ALL of the potential draftees I want to), and if I'm satisfied with it when I go to bed Sunday night, I'll release.

souamort is right, no need to give the man the answer you did, in the tone it was typed. i've watching how your answer back to people, you need some people to typing lessons.bruins72 wrote:How about you just wait like everyone else, souamort? Really, haven't we had enough people asking when it's going to be ready? It doesn't make it come any quicker. Lidas logs into the site just about every day. When he has information to share, he will.
Ladis keep up the good work, I'm sure everyone is waiting and will enjoy it.

Frankly, deathknot, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to keep a little order around here. I put a lot of time and energy into this community and I hate to see it go to rubbish. How is hounding Lidas about a release date productive in any way? This was already discussed a couple weeks ago, either in this thread or another thread dealing with the update. It was made clear that everyone needed to back off and let the man work. Just because a couple weeks have passed does not mean that it's time to start up again.deathknot wrote:souamort is right, no need to give the man the answer you did, in the tone it was typed. i've watching how your answer back to people, you need some people to typing lessons.bruins72 wrote:How about you just wait like everyone else, souamort? If you've got an issue with me and feel the need to discuss it further, send me a PM and I'll be more than happy to respond to you. There has been enough of this in the forums.

Well that sounds good. I often find the first few drafts pretty weak, hopefully this will help.Lidas wrote:I finished all NHL prospects a few days ago...

Holy rubbish guys. The more times Lidas has to type in this freaking thread, the longer it takes.
And BTW--You think B72 responses are bad about asking this question OVER AND OVER AND OVER? You would not want to hear mine if I was still on board as a mod here or admin or whatever.
Anyway, if you want to Pay pal Lidas some money and pay him to do this work...then you can feel free to ask questions. I am sure Lidas will post his pay pal info to you in a PM if you ask him to send him some $.
Maybe he can become professional mod of this game, quit his job, and do it during the day instead of at night when his kids are asleep. For those of you who just cannot wait and have to ask the question....again...please PM ME! I Will give you the answer no problem. Shh....dont tell anyone...I know EXACTLY when Lidas is going to release it. But I refuse to tell you in this forum. B72 knows too, we just want to hide it.
Oh wait...actually Lidas has never done any work on this at all. You all may as well just give up and do it yourself. Cause there is no 2.0 DB Lidas is just messing with ya all, as were all the guys researching it.
Hey--Try doing it yourself you impatient, ungrateful....you know what I mean.

Hey Batdad, you do bring up a good point. Strictly speaking because we all own this game and don't have to pay for updates because SI no longer produced it. I would be totally up to kicking a few dollars towards Lidas and all he does for us.batdad wrote:Holy rubbish guys. The more times Lidas has to type in this freaking thread, the longer it takes.

It's just a thought, but if he takes donations, I'll donate.

Nice sentiment there, AvesFan101.
We'll have to see if Lidas is interested in this. I do worry about the legal ramifications of that though. If somebody from any of the league's found out that he was profiting from their players and teams, it could get messy.
It's funny, when SI first announced that they were canceling production of the game, I thought that they should do a yearly update of the game's rosters (and start date) and not worry about developing the game further. Apparently, one of the more costly parts of making the game was the licensing. And I guess those licenses are also why the start date is locked. If the game started in any other year it wouldn't fall under their licensing agreements.

If Lidas were to SELL his updates, it would be an issue, and he would get in trouble. If he were to give it away, as he does, its not an issue, just like if Lidas were to FIND a money order in his mail box for no reason, its no ones concern where, how, or more importantly, WHY he was able to find it. And if anyone decides to PM me his mailing address, I assure you he will find a money order in his mail box with my name as the sender.

I would like to clarify. I would be up to donating money towards Lidas for his great work and solid contributions to the message boards of "The Blue Line" ... In no way would I be donating money for work that could potentially be infringing on copyright issues of the NHL or any other professional league.batdad wrote:Good point there B72 on the legal issues. I suggest we not talk about $. Read my post on how to deal with $.

funny that is said about the 2010 and 2011 draft because the 2011 right now is looking rather weak and the 2010 is looking rather good equal to last year and maybe stronger late rounds. 2012 draft is alright, i remember that Ovie's cousin in that draft and another russian named Girgorenko(!st overall right now) i think it is. 2011 and 2012 might be shaping up to be weaker than what we have done for the last few years, but 2010 is no dub maybe even better than last year.
pay of a update works. but it can't be done, unless fake names are used and then you make a update afterwards for it using the real names. all it takes is someone from a league to report this and Ladis is in some pooh.
who knows their could someone on the forum who with and team and it could be reported.

If we wanted to donate to Lidas for his work, it's very simple.
Put a PayPal DONATE NOW button somewhere around here and put the following:
"If you think Lidas is an awesome dude and feel like your wallet should be lighter, click here!"
It says nothing about rosters, updates, licenses, the NHL, or anything else other than paying Lidas for being awesome. Which, honestly, I think all of us using his rosters on EHM should do.

I think the biggest issue would be other companies (EA, 2K Sports), since they are paying for the rights, I think thats who would be Lidas' biggest problem if he were to attempt to sell or make money off his updates.
The issue with fake names in the DB would work, but its twice the work. I know years ago, someone I knew made T-shirts with picures of Princess Diana after her death, and he got destroyed by some of the bigger companies that were paying royalties to whoever to use her likeness. (Served him right for trying to make a buck off her death, but so were they.)
He's not taking money out of the leagues or players pockets directly, it might be seen more as taking away sales from the other game companies, so thats who would be most upset.
