Starting Unemployed

Post by FromChaos »

I searched for anything on this and couldn't find anything. I trying to start unemployed and work my way up to the NHL, but there are still no job openings and I am a couple months into the season already. Does it always start like this or is it random? Anyways, I guess I just have to wait to later in the season when teams start firing again I guess.

You have too choose the right starting date to start your career earlier in the year. Take the earliest date shown.. you will have more choice. You will have opening from whl, ohl, lhjmq and some in europe.

If you start at the NHL start date, job openings will be really slow(the way I prefer). But if you choose one of the earlier start dates, like jackknife said, you'll be able to sim a day or two and have dozens of jobs open. I did this in one of my recent games with TBL Unfake 1,1 and I wouldn't be surprised if the number of open jobs was around a hundred or so.

when you choose the league you are starting with. Even if you are starting unemployed, you have to choose a league to set the starting point. By scroling you will see the date associated with each league.

Each time you start a new game and pick for example NHL and AHL as Extended (i.e. playable leagues) you get to decide which league you want to start with. This is done by changing (from Options, located below Select Leagues) Game Start Date from North America (August 30. 2006) to the start of another league or region. You must select at least two leagues as Extended to be able to do this.

EDIT: Sorry guys, I somehow missed the post above :dunno: Anyway, my bad...

Mod note: No biggie ;) Furthermore, your explanation was clearer and more descriptive, so i won't delete your post. - Shadd

I pick Rec. Player. I think it's the lowest reputation.

Methinks Automatic is lower.

No It's not. I've tried it and I ended to SM-liiga. When I take Rec. Player I don't have even a chance.

I'm pretty sure that Automatic puts you at the lowest acceptable reputation for your league. So if you were adding a GM to take over an NHL team, it would give you a higher reputation than if you were using Automatic and taking over a WHL team. If you're starting unemployed... I'm not sure what it would give you. I'm thinking Rec Player would be a more certain way to make sure you've got the worst rep.

You probably won't get any offers until other GMs start getting fired. You just have to be patient.
