regen-player names

Post by Terva »

Does anyone know if the regenerated players have the original names or if the names ar just randomly generated?

I have a suspicious player now for the upcoming 2007-draft.
He´s last name is M A K A R O V !!!!!!!!

But his first name is Alexandr and he´s a center, with quite good stats too.

Isn't Makarov quite common in Russia?

I remember noticing a thread at SI Forums where someone asked if they can put their own name in the regens, and they said yes.

So I guess there's a namelist for regen players.

Let's see if I can find that thread...

Edit: My mistake! There's a namelist for regens, but what was asked in the thread was if the GM's name is added to the regens list, as you name your GM, and that was a yes!

When a player retires, they are added back into the games talent pool by becoming a regen, this is a player who is regenerated as a younger player so that the balance of talent in the game can be maintained. Regens will start to appear as early as 2007 in your game and there is an easy method of finding them.

If you think you may have a regen, simply create a new game, a save file that you never sim, just keep it around for comparing players. Now mark down the following things about the player you would like to check:

Height, Weight, Position, Nationality, Hand they shoot, Balance and Bravery.

These attributes never change, they are the same from player to regen. Use the player and staff search to filter out posabilities in your backup save file, insert country, position, Balance minimum and Bravery minimum to what the player matches, now all you have to do is match a player with his height and weight.

Might be quite a process but it works. Found a regens for Roy, Hasek, Kolzig and Messier.

Everybody know this? No? :P
The first time I found regens in a manager game was in FIFA SOCCER MANAGER (98 or something like that). Since then all manager games use this sort of technique to make the game endless :).

What about CM?
I thought that the game created players randomly whit a certain number of good players every year.

I think when a player retires, a player with similar skills is created to replace him.

This ensures that Brazilians, English, Spanish, etc. are always the most talented nationalities and that the number of defenders, midfielders, etc. remains balanced.

I'm sure the same theory applies to EHM.
