I sent Brule and Smid down to start the season. Gagner stayed with the team. After 16 games with the Oilers, I ended up sending Gagner down and bringing Pouliot up. We'll see how that works out. Gagner definitely wasn't benefiting from 3rd line duties with the big club.toddpaul wrote:Anyone else send some of the young guns down to the AHL? Sent both Gagner and Brule to Springfield where they'll play on the same line for the season. Not a fan of how either of them had been developed so far, and planning on tanking the first season so that helps

I wouldn't do it but that could be because of my deep hatred of Kessel.Salming wrote:its july 2nd seson 2

should i take it?
Smid looks realy nice and have improved alot. Cogliano made almost 50 goals in Ahl and can be a future good 2nd line winger.
Kessel is a player to build the Oilers franchise around...

In all seriousness though... I wouldn't do that deal. To me, the Oilers already have enough players like Kessel. They need a little sandpaper. I'd like to see them acquire a physical forward that can also score.

I made the deal for Kessel. sorry to say i payd heawy for it during second seson. I also got toskala as my UFA signing. My defence now lacks deapth and are to old.
For seson 3 my highest priority is to get at least 2 defenders more. Gonna be fun to see if other managers in the challange can devolp and make Smid to a 1-2 Dmen.
This challange is tough. it takes ages to go for the cup. only thing Oilers start with is many top 6 forwards but none of em are realy spearheading the team and also Gagner seems to weak to Boomout. I got gagner still in AHL in seson 2.H produce alot of points but have attributes around 13-14ish

I've got Gagner centering my 2nd line, and Brule centering the 3rd.bruins72 wrote:I sent Brule and Smid down to start the season. Gagner stayed with the team. Overall, offence is good. Usually scoring 4-5 goals - BUT, I'm conceding more than I score. I started out OK, but now everything is falling apart... 2-8-0 in my last 10 games.

Šmíd seems to have 1st pairing potential, and I would have to think at least thrice before trading him. Also, I wouldn't trade for Kessel. There's lots of talent in that area on this team. But we'll see how it turns out for you later on.Salming wrote:I made the deal for Kessel. sorry to say i payd heawy for it during second seson. I also got toskala as my UFA signing. Oh, and Salming, have you read the Challenge rules? I had a look at the screenshots you posted, and there's a couple of things weird about them. The Standings and Stats screenshots should be taken in the month of July, and it says Apr 8 on yours. What's more, the Trades one should show the Trades screen, not the Players In one. But it also looks like you acquired a couple of prospects between 13.08.2006 and 20.08.2006, whereas, according to the Challenge rules, the game should start on Aug 30, 2006.

3.4 You must start your game using the start date of the Challenge league, no matter how many leagues you set on enhanced. So if the Challenge team is in the NHL then you must use the NHL start date, if the Challenge team is in the QMJHL, you must use the QMJHL start date, etc.

Haha, it looks worse than it is. I'm sick and have been stuck in bed for three days now. So I randomly falls asleep between the posts just to wake up about one hour/half-hour later.McQwak wrote:visualdarkness, when do you sleep? I see you've been posting almost every hour non-stop for last two days

So I sleep, but it's quite incoherent at the time. I like that EHM is the perfect "one click, sleep, one click, sleep" game, or I would get really bored in bed

Ciryatan is right. I'm not as concerned with the date of the stats and standing screenshots (even though the rules clearly state that they should be taken in the month of June). The transactions screen concerns me though. It definitely looks like you started your game before the start date we designated in the rules. Also, you should look at the examples of the screenshots we're looking for. They're in the rules and they tell you exactly how to get the screenshots we're looking for.Círyatan wrote:Šmíd seems to have 1st pairing potential, and I would have to think at least thrice before trading him. Interesting. I hadn't thought about putting Penner at LW, even though it works with his handedness. I guess I didn't like pushing Moreau down to the 4th line. He's my team's captain and I don't want to limit his ice time that much. Plus, I like having his physical presence on the 3rd line.Lidas wrote:1. Incoherent was the wrong word, I can't seem find the right word at the moment but I meant something like "not consistent" (just like the Oilers team we got).
My latest (healthy) lines are:
Visnovsky - Souray - Moreau - Horcoff - Penner
Grebeshkov - Gilbert - Cogliano - Comrie - Hemsky
Strudwick - Staios - Smid - O'Sullivan - Nilsson
Jacques - Stone - Pisani

It says June on the cheat sheet and on the screenshot examples.Salming wrote:where does it stands screens in june? and why does it matter if u post screen in june or end of april/may?
i can repost em but i cant edit my posts
Standings Example
Stats Example
It even shows you the exact screen we're looking for. And the example of the trades screen shows what you should be doing on that one as well.
Trades Example
Like I said, the date that your stats and standings screens were taken weren't really a big deal but we put down June so everyone's is consistent.
What about your start date though? You didn't start on the date we put in the rules. You started early.

My first 20 games are logged! Finally!
So I finished that segment in 5th place in the conference. Of course, it helps that I've played 1 or 2 games more than some of the other teams but I still feel I deserve my position. I'm actually 3rd in the conference in points but the Stars and Wings get ranked ahead of me because they're leading their divisions. The Northwest Division is tough! Leading the division is Calgary with 28 points in 18 games. Second is Colorado with 28 points in 20 games. I've got 26 points in 20 games.
Hemsky leads the league in points with 31. Horcoff is 3rd with 27. Between them in 2nd is Anaheim's Getzlaf. We've also got O'Sullivan at 11th with 25 and Comrie at 16th with 25 also.
I really can't complain. I didn't expect to do this well with this team.

So far, so good. Sitting in 4th after five games with a 4-1-0 record and a thorough dismantling of the previously unbeaten Canucks 6-1.
Deslauriers has been solid, starting all 5 games while posting a 2.37 GAA. In general, I've been rolling my lines:
Moreau - Horcoff - Hemsky
Comrie - Gagner - O'Sullivan
Cogliano - Penner - Nilsson
Pisani - Pouilot - Stortini
Souray - Visnovsky
Smid - Gilbert
Grebeshkov - Strudwick/Staios
