I haven't posted my draft so I figured that I'll do it now. Maybe I got too many busts, but some seem to make it. Most of the ones I wanted was taken one or to picks before me

Round/Overall

1/20 - Austin Watson - A more skilled but somewhat less physical Penner, great pick. Got the 2-way ability and size I need. Scouts says a more talented Olesz (who I tried to trade for!).,

2/50 - Michael Sgarbossa - A Toby Petersen with good (although weird combination of skills) technical and physical skills. Not that especially good mentally, maybe a bad choice.

3/80 - Gregg McKegg - Looks like a good defensive center who is putting up numbers in the juniors. Could use a boost in the mental ability and strenght. Too early to tell but looks like a good pick.

4/110 - Cody St. Jacques - A, at the draft, back-up goalie (overage) with top notch mental abilities. But his lack of games in juniors probably stunted his development and the reports says thierd-string now. Looked like a good prospect who I was happy to get, but probably is a bust.

5/140 - Frederick Roy - A small but really tough center that got good mental abilities. Will probably make it on my team in two seasons if he keeps up!

6/165 - Nikita Gusev - Two-way center with really weird skillset. For example he can deke, take face-offs and pokecheck but can't stickhandle hit or check. I don't know what to expect.

6/170 Brian Birkhoff - Really skilled in the mental and puck-handling section, but lacks balance, positioning, slap and hitting. He got the skills to make it but will probably become a defensive liability.

7/200 - Lucas Sandström - A small but quick older winger who got a complete skillset. hopefully he reaches his third-line potential.

Actually he's right. No trades from July 15 - October 15.

6.2 The following no trade periods apply every season (starting from Season 2):

NHL: 15 July - 15 October (both dates are inclusive). If a trade is not confirmed, and the traded for player is not on your roster by July 14th, the trade cannot be completed. Further, we know it takes a few days to make a trade in most cases, so there should not be any confirmed trades on October 16th in your game.

He's got the date set to European Format (game date is 1st July 2010), on mine would be July 1st, 2010)

Anyways, pretty hard for him to take a screenshot of a trade that wouldn't have happened yet :)

So, after losing Pisani, I tried a little unorthodox-ness - I put Horcoff on the 3rd line to make a good checking/physical line with Penner and Moreau, matched 3rd line to 1st, and he exploded! Off. Player of the Week, going 8-2-10 in his last 5!

However, I traded my defense away for his offense - gave up 10 goals, going 1-3, gave up 27 going 3-2-1. RRRGGH!

O'Sullivan is inconsistent, Hemsky just got back, and even though Horcoff isn't totally suited to the 1st line center role, no one else is either :( I'll be tweaking this all year!

Right now, my lines are:
Cogs-Gagner-Hemsky Souray-Visnovsky
O'Sully-Comrie-Nilsson Grebeshkov-Staios
Moreau-Horcoff-Penner Smid-Gilbert
Strudwick-Stone-Radunske/O'Marra

Radunske is my healthy scratch, but O'Marra may need to go back to Springfield... I'm not using him well. LOL

and Strudwick had himself a breakaway goal =D>
sitting at 4-5-1 after 10. Sweet!

I have just started seson 7 (2012-2013)

Ufa signing Andrew Ladd 1,8m
trade Grebeshow,Leopold for drew Doughty

My team are slowly changing to a power team with many strong players mixed up with a few fast wingers. The defence is amazing. Doughty pairs up with Seabrook to be a big blueline force. Grebeshow was unhappy at me and was forced to move otherwise he had gone to UFA. I have a few decent prospects in my youth system mainly from the superb 2010 draft. In that draft i got 1 very good defensive center and 2 dmens that will be 3rd liners at worst. So far only Taylor Hall have reached the first 2 lines from the draft. We have won the cup 4 times in row and have forced us to get very low picks in the draft so the rebuild of the team is only made by the only trade the rules permit. The ufa signing is also key to get another NHL calibre player into squad. Almost every year i have had 2 players leaving to UFA,retirement or refuse to sign new contracts. This forces me to use all trades and UFA to just fill those wholes every year.

here are my lines 2012-2013

Oilers

Kessel - E Staal - Toews
Ladd-Fox - Okposo
Hall - Bäärnheim - Comrie

Doughty - Seabrook
Suter - Schenn
M Staa l- Quinn

Price

Quinn
Quinn was picked by oilers in 3rd round as 90 pick 2010.He got 2 sesons behind him in Stockton and Springfield where he have outplayed better defenders and forced hes way into the Oilers team.

bäärn
Bäärnheim was as #23 by islanders in 2009 draft. He was traded to Oilers for Hemsky and Horcoff seson 6. He is now playing with hes friend Taylor Hall and the 35year old vet Comrie

Fox
Fox was my 1st pick in 2010. He was ranked as NHL biggest talent in the preseson ranking by the experts. Ilove hes workrate size and strenght. Fox is leading a powerline with Ladd and Okposo.

Those are some sick kids you have there Salming.

Speaking of kids, how's Gagner doing for everyone? I'm reading that people are looking to move him becuase he doesn't fit their type of player profile but for me he is a PPG player in the first season with an average of just over 11 minutes played so he's not going anywhere. He's also second behind Hemsky in +/-. In term of points per game only Penner has him beat and he's averaging about 16 minutes including first PP time.

After another overhaul of tactics we are now 6-1-1 in our last 8 and rapidly playing our way out of a lottery pick with no chance of making the playoffs... I find myself wishing the team starts losing again but I'm way too competitive to tank the season on purpose.

First three season's my team really struggled. Once I was able to bring in my draft picks like Hall, Couturier, Johns regular ice and get players like Gagner, Cogliano and Paajarvi Svensson into my top 6, it has got me cups in season's 4 and 5.

Hall, Paajarvi Svensson and Couturier have all won the past calder trophies, and are 100+ point players.

My lines heading into season 6 are as follows

Couturier-Malkin-Hall

Paajarvi Svennson-Burternes-Gagner

Horcroff-Cogliano-Nash

Mair-O'Marra-Mikhnov

Myers-Staal

Grebeshkov-Myers

Johns-Ernhoff

Harding

Enroth

Burternes is a rookie who should do well.

For sure,

Johns, Hall and Couturier are the only ones who really have made an impact, but there are some good depth guys in the system. Most are still in the CHL.

Just finished season 1. 30th overall.#1 pick here we come.
Horcoff somehow led the league in pts (123) and overall rating (9.23) so should be in for some awards.
Gagner played 75 games as #2 center and PP,48pts,7.16 rating
Smid played 79 games and was solid defensively 19pts,-4 ,7.04 rating on a poor defensive team.
JDD did what he could in 67 games, 23w/32lossess, 3.55Gaa, 7.51 rating.

On to the fun of the off season to see if I can improve this team.

I know she has done it before, but never in a challenge game. She hates EHM. I think she is trying to break the game. :-D
Dude... you need to have a talk with the wife. Never mind the fact that she's messing with EHM, she shouldn't be just ctrl-alt-del and killing things. That's a last resort when the computer is frozen. You're going to end up with some file corruption (and I'm not just talking about EHM) eventually if she keeps it up.

What kills me about it is she is a software consultant. It does not happen that often though...and other than EHM there is nothing on this computer that is important. She knows that too, and would love to kill EHM. :-D

Don't get so defensive. He asked politely and admitted that he wasn't sure if he was reading the dates right. As has been explained, there are two different date formats. In the US (and other places I'm guessing) 8/1/2010 is August 1st 2010. In Europe it is January 8th 2010. It's a simple enough mistake. No need to get snippy over it.

So many young hot ladies from all over the world in Vancouver right now. Both of us could trade in. This place is freaking outstanding right now. Defencemen the world over are really learning how to "keep their head on a swivel". Sometimes there are too many to choose from to do anything but say Hubba hubba.

Back on topic. Game 75 lost Horcoff for a week. No biggie though, will just miss 2 Nashville games.

I guess this is common for everyone (or just about) in the challenge but it's July 28th 2007 and I just got a news item saying that Pat Quinn has retired. Looks like I'll have to promote Renney as HC and sign another assistant. That sucks. I actually wanted to keep Quinn.

I honestly doubt it. You don't really see that many people play even up to 7 seasons. Most only play a few seasons.

okie, i save game every 20 games so i can easy go back and record if i need to later on then

I will continue to play this save, its amazingly fun and the planning to replace those who wanna leave is very challanging for me.The fun starts after seson somewhere when the draft picks hits the 1st team. I love to devolp youngsters.
