Have you ever gotten a player to waive his NTC? I've never seen it happen.

You've basically got to try to do everything you can to make him want to leave the team. Make him mad. Just beware. If he's well liked by his teammates, they may get mad at you too.

I don't really want to get rid of Lubo but his and Souray's contracts are killing me, also Lubo is currently outplayed by an amazing Gilbert and Grebs isn't far behind.

Yeah, if I could find the right replacements and make the right deals, I'd love to get rid of Visnovsky and Souray. I usually look to get rid of players when they're around 34 or 35 years old. Moreau falls into that category but he's our captain. Plus, he does make the kind of money those two make.

I signed some long-term contracts (not my usual style as I like the freedom) like MPS at 2,187,000/year until 17/18 and I need to support them.

Also I got loads of contracts to sign after this season and some of the player will demand big money (like Hemsky and Penner), so if a player currently makes big money and I feel I can somewhat replace them I want 'em gone.

Hemska and Lubo for Malkin isn't that bad for me for example. I also have trades for guys like Mark Stuart and Ryan Suter pending, Lubo turned them down at first though.

What the heck did just happen?!
It 4 - 4 in the game after fulltime but when I clicked continue to go into overtime the game ended and suddenly the score became 9 - 2. I'm confused but not complaining :-? :-D

What is my game doing? Middle of the third period of the game after:
The score is 3 - 4 and I go to the tactics screen to do some changes, when click on confirm the score changes to 4 - 1.

Looks like the game is cheating, but to my favour :dunno:

I'll test to reload EHM after this game. Lets see it the score can change two times in a game!

I finally went for a trade:

Lubo and Deslauriers
for
Ryan Suter + Chris Stewart

Unloaded a big contract in Lubo for a a younger, cheaper and I think better player in Suter. He is loyal and wants to resign with me for a salary as low as 3,800,000/year for a future top notch defenseman. Chris Stewart wasn't in my plans, but a big strong goal-scoring winger with first line potential was too good to turn down. It could pay out if I lose a starplayer as an UFA.

Oh, I forgot:
Unloaded the need to sign JD to a bigger contract than he he is worth the next summer. Gustavsson will get a heavy load of games but Roy or Dubnyk can fill out the holes.

I think this is a really good trade that will pay out in long-term.

It's a glitch that pops up sometimes. I've had it happen to me sometimes too.

Is that the name of a race car driver too? I think so. The "Schumacher" part sounds familiar.

And no, my Michael Schumacher isn't particularly speedy at the moment. His acceleration is 10 and his speed is 11.

Speaking of NTC's: Extended Pisani for two years, but neglected to notice he requested an NTC. Oops.

Finished the year last in the West after a promising start. Took Cam Fowler with the fourth overall pick. We had no problems scoring - at even strength anyways - but need a bit of help defensively.

Of course, the situation in net was tops on my priority list. JDD was alright, but became wildly inconsistent at the end of the season. I rode him pretty hard all year, considering the alternatives (Dubnyk and Pitton) were god-awful on their best days. Used my free-agent slot to sign Vesa Toskala and brought Bjurling over from Europe as insurance. Both are rated higher than Deslauriers, who will most likely remain my backup. I see no point in signing Roy just yet, since I plan on leaving him in juniors for at least one more season.

I also had to unload some cash, and since Horcoff and Hemsky each posted over a point per game, Dustin Penner and his $4.25 mil per year were out the door. I found an adequate dancing partner with the Wild, who sent over Chuck Kobasew and Derek Boogaard for Penner and Rajala. Kobasew saves me about $2 mil, is more defensively responsible and should be cheaper to resign when his contract expires. Boogaard gives the team more grit. Rajala, meanwhile, was a disappointment last season. He played in only 63 games for Brandon, scoring only 11 goals and was a woeful -25 in the regular season for a team that eventually won the Memorial Cup.

Anyone else have Pat Quinn retire on them in the second season? He just up and quit on my 18 July 2007. Offering the head job to Terry Murray - who should be helpful in beefing up the defensive responsibility o this group - who joined my team after getting the ax just over 6 months ago.

Yeah, Quinn retired early on me too. I had actually wanted to keep him on as head coach. I didn't have a real good head coach candidate among my assistants (or scouts or AGM) because I didn't plan on replacing him. I just hired for training needs. So I ended up making Renney my head coach since he was the most qualified among the guys I already had on staff.

Thought about Renney as well. I hired Murray in January when he got let go and moved Buchberger to a scout slot, and I knew that Murray would be a good candidate if I should happen to fire Quinn. Pat just made it easy on me, but I had been inclined to keep him for at least a while longer.

Wish I could play more. Too busy this time of year. Likely not going to even get 2nd season done in time.

Rajala looks pretty promising in my game. 58GP 24G 30A last season, 56GP 34G 50A so far this season. Him and MPS playing the first line in the AHL next season will be interesting, with Brule or Lander centering them they should be a force to be reckoned with.

Rajala is really developing well for me too!
MPS is already up on my secon line and will win rookie of the year (if he just doesn't stop producing completely). Rajala Will be up next season but I have to create a spot for him, which is easier said than done.

4th season is over and 5th coming =D>

Finally I managed to win the SC for the first time in 4 years.... It seemed pretty easy this season, won the president's trophy with 112 points and only lost 3 games in the playoffs, although I was really lucky that the Flames lost Iginla for 3 months after game 1 of the conference final, I always lose a lot of games against them because of Kiprusoff/Iginla...
In the overall final we managed to sweep the Senators, but the 4th game was very thrilling, Malkin scored in the 2nd overtime after Spezza's tying goal very late in the 3rd period.....
I had doubts about my defense, but they played quite well through the season, Souray and Gilbert were leading the D-men in points and Souray won the Norris trophy :-D

P. Stastny won Art Ross, Conn Smythe and L. B. Pearson, was placed 2nd for Hart and was nominated 3 times off. player of the month

Ohhh, the 2010 draft is just awesome  ... All 7 picks have good chances to make their way into the NHL
with pick #30 i chose a Dion Phaneuf like D-men, although he is lacking some anticipation and creativity, a great player anyways....

In the preseason I decided to trade away the already 36 year old Norris winner Souray + 37y Moreau, my 2 assistant captains in the past to the Thrashers for Taylor Hall + B. Little and the board and fans celebrated the trade and in addition I shipped 5-6 M of cap hit out....

There were also a lot of great UFAs available, but not for 2M  ... As my team is now really young I signed 2 experienced guys for the 525.000$ allowed: 38y old veteran Todd Bertuzzi and 30y Artyukhin

my lines heading into the 5th season:

Grebeshkov - Gilbert ------ ----------------------- Pääjärvi - Stastny - O'Sully
Smid - Fowler ------------------------------------ Hall - Malkin - Penner
Shattenkirk - Johns (#31 in 2007) ---------Cogliano - Gagner - Little
---------------------------------------------------Bertuzzi - Gaustad - Tyler Kennedy
Scratches: Artyukhin, Eberle, Nilsson ------------------- Goal: Fleury + JDD

There is not much left of the initial team , but I like it and the fans too I think.....

I would really like to see your rosters, if there are big differences, that would be interesting.... The only thing I recognize is that many of us aquired Carter, Richards or Malkin, not a bad choice at all :-D

Please post your rosters if you like to....
