Does the CPU not "rest" it's players?

Post by Mordrehl »

Just noticed, in my fourth season ...

Robert Luongo - GP 8, Condition 4%
Dan Heately - GP 13, Condition 41%
Jason Spezza - GP 0, Condition 39% (he's their top ranked center even, ZERO games played)

Seems that the players got tired in the offseason and never recovered? And that's just a sample of 3 players ...

heh has nobody else ever seen this?

These players have been tired all season (just checked an earlier save game). So it seems that period around august where conditions plummeted, the CPU Coaches put the players in practices before they recovered.

Is there a way to avoid the CPU making this mistake?

I've seen it quite a few times. I have no idea how to avoid it.

Isn't it similar tothis one? I haven't seen it before, too.

Yup

Found about 10 players on 5-6 teams like it.

My best guess is that when player's conditions plummet in the offseason (july or august I think) ... before they can recover to 90-100% the coach puts them in a practice routine and also forces them to play exhibition games. The player's condition thus plummets further so that by the start of the season their stuck in a this low condition hell (since it seems CPU coaches don't switch players to rest unless injured)

When the players go tired in the off season I thought that that's when they automatically were on a rest period, I've had them stay on the normal practice during this time before and it has not affected them at all.

So, coming up on training camp and just browsed the rosters of the other 29 NHL teams ... and these same 9-10 players are all wiped out at 35-40% condition ... keeping my eye on them to see if they recover before the season starts.

If not, pity SI doesn't make patches anymore :(

The only time I have seen this was when i was running an intensive practice regime and coached a national team. It seemed the players on the national team got double practice, wiped out their condition and never recovered. I tried to sign as many as I could over the years and let them rest before trading them.
