Did you try to start a game with it? Did it work, no errors?
Yep, even had it going online for testing briefly. No errors reported anywhere's. Still have the db if you want to look at it.
Nah, thanks though. I wouldn't understand it any better with the Pre-Game Editor than what I can read from the forums.

Strange though. Sometimes you can change them, and at other times you can't... :-?

Yeah, I had no problems at all. Changed the colours around for a bunch of teams. Buffalo included I do believe.

You can't rename main text's (leagues, cups, teams)! You can only rename at other language.

Ya I gave up on having 30 Fiction NHL Teams.
I just decided to get rid of Atlanta, Nashville, Phoenix, Tampa, and Florida in my New game and that worked fine.

You can have a fictional league if you want. Just make sure you keep the current NHL teams intact, while setting their league info(league, division, etc.) as blank.

Ok I see in the first post it says that you can't delete history (ie removing Cups), can you edit the history at all?

No, as far as I know. But as already posted above you can simply remove all NHL teams from the league and replace them with unused teams (there are dozens of them). They won't have history and that way you can start from scratch.

You can edit the records that have been set in the teams history (or delete them so you have all new point scorers), but you can't delete actual history.

Can you remove affiliations?
I have only been able to change teams but can you remove the affiliation alltogether. For example, the Boston Bruins does not have an ECHL affiliate IRL and I want to remove the Johnstown affiliate

You can't remove them - you need to overwrite them.
I have removed the affiliation you are talking about for my next update - I overwrote Johnstown with Providence since the game only uses the affiliation once even though its there twice in the database.

OK. Thanks for the info. I was wondering why some teams were affiliated several times

Hey guys, I just recently changed all the NHL teams to the unused ones and made the other NHL teams be cleared in the Nation, League, etc. part. I got all of the NHL teams information to the unused teams, thats all set. The problem I'm having now is that when I go to start a game with this database, it just stops working. I don't get the nhl.usa error or anything. I did erase the names on the original NHL teams, so there is like 30 blank named teams on the editor, I'm not sure if this is the cause?

I think that you can change names of teams like this:

Atlanta Thrashers -> Seattle Wonders

Austarilian Hockey league team, Melbourne Kings -> Atlanta Thrashers.

So put atlanta name over something team, which doesnt play in playable league, hope you understood.

I thought that only a few NHL teams are hardcoded and you can edit them too, if you retain "™" mark (e.g. Ottawa Senators is one of those teams).

Yup, only some of them need to be recreated elsewhere.

Team Editing

So I was reading this and it seemed a lot more confusing than I had first anticipated... So I want to change the Nashville Predators to the Hamilton [Something] lets go with the Bulldogs. So I went into the UK EHM editor (2007) and I changed Nashville's name and everything, but then when I go into the game it hasn't changed and their still the Nashville Predators. Can anyone give me a clue on how to change this?

-Having a hard time with the UK editor at the moment. I want to change the file location, but everytime I click change it wont let me select the proper folder and instead says index followed by; "index.dat, File not found, Check file name and try again."

Urg, getting tired of being technologically challenged...

Let's get the basics out of the way first, since I don't know how much editing you've done:

- Did you start a new game?

- Did you push Confirm after the edit? (and save the database)

Yes and Yes. So what I did was create a new database folder, so I wouldn't screw up the original. Now where it says the file location that I'm editing it has the new custom folder, but I'd rather just go back to the Original and edit the team from there, but now It wont let me change the folder it just brings up that error... (I have edited things within the folder, would that have an affect on this?)

I dunno... try reinstalling the editor.

Rename some other team to Columbus Blue Jackets, say from Asia, or some other distant place you'll never hear of.

I think, for the game to work, there has to be a "Columbus Blue Jackets(TM sign)", "Dallas Stars(TM Sign)" and "Ottawa Senators(TM Sign)".
