I'm happier with the Iginla trade... To get him, albeit, in the last year of contract, for what is a small amount, is a fantastic deal.. :D

I still can't believe Pittsburgh got him. Like they really needed more help?

There is that...

I've spent the last hour listening to Pens Radio, and they're trying to work out what Bylsma will do with the lines and other stuff.. It is quite ludicrous really.. :D

Great day to be a Bruins fan :chuckle:

And Pittsburgh of all teams. I'd rather cheer for the filthy Habs :-# and now them stupid Pens steal Jerome which makes me despise them even more.

Oh well... Go Hawks Go

Yup Pittsburgh is one fire. I don't know the prospects PITT gave for Iginla that much. Are they good? Because my first thought about that trade was that it didn't cost too much. :dunno:

I really thought Morrow and Murray were pretty good gets, but I think Shero overreached with Iginla. Now he's not only made it truly Cup Or Bust, but with the Cap dropping 6 million to $64m next year he's given himself cap issues again. If this doesn't work, I don't exactly see him keeping all these guys together.

A future 2nd liner, and a future 3rd liner, and a late 1st round pick for Iginla, its not a bad one really.

Total steal for Pittsburg. It remains to be seen how Jerome does with them, but he is still good enough that if it was a full season he would pop 30 playing with Sid or Malkin. As for cap issues...not likely an issue. I highly doubt that they will resign Jerome...strictly a rental. Brendan Morrow is also UFA...rental. Douglas Murray...UFA. I hardly think that they will attempt to resign all 3. At best, one of Jerome and Morrow, and it will be a one year deal so they can deal with Malkin after next season. Just do not see it as a cap problem...rather a huge huge asset acquirement. And they hardly sold the farm....Pittsburg to my understanding has a good solid and YOUNG core. Not to mention some decent prospects.

as far as I am concerned...this is exactly the type of thing Vancouver should have done a couple of years ago. Now...they look like they are 2-3 years (at most) away from being the Calgary Flames.

What cap issues?
Aren't all three new guys UFAs at season's end?

Let Primis alone, he's making mistakes because he's too tired by watching the Wings playing at 10 pm. :-D

One would assume Shero would try to keep one or two on, especially if they lose in the SCF or ECF. Otherwise, he's given up an awful lot for nothing just to let all 3 guys walk. It's one thing to rent a guy, it's another thing to rent 3...

Exactly. There's no way Morrow and Murray stay and if they wanted to bring Iggy back it's doable cap-wise. Great move by Shero.

Honestly I don't think the Pens gavce that much for those three guy. For Morrow they had to gave up a pretty good prospect, which is as usual in a trade like this. The young guys for Iggy don't seem to be futur first liners from what I've heard, so no big deal. And two second round for Murray. It's kinda big but it's alright.

You know why I find that alright? The Pens got the advantage of having a really young team who's very very good. Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Fleury, Kennedy, Neal etc...They already got their futur in the team so it's not 3 propects and three draft pick that's gonna ruin their futur for now. Each years there's a team who gives way more than this and let the player go just like that. :dunno:

The Penguins will not win the Stanley Cup this year. The big favorites rarely does nowadays. I've got nothing against them really... I like a lot of teams. Only two teams I don't really like, and that's Red Wings (except Datsyuk) and Canucks. ;)

Meh. It's moving out a lot of youth/picks/futures at once. You're right: the two guys they moved to CGY aren't projected to be much as NHLers. They hosed CGY I guess, depending on who that 1st rounder turns out to be. It's more the combined 3 transactions that gives me a bit of pause. It's moving a lot of futures out at once.

And I still think they've created a pickle for themselves financially. Iginla and Morrow aren't going to sign the big deals they had, but they'll still cost to keep either. And I think after this run, regardless of the outcome (but especially if there's no Cup) there will be a lot of pressure to bring them both back. And I don't know how they'll manage that. In addition to the 3 rentals Kunitz and Dupuis are up as well. (And Cooke but, yeah....) They had this streak going with these guys, they're important to the team, you don't just dump them do you?

BTW as a Wings fan I'm happy they landed DeKeyser but... man. I don't know what some Wings fans are thinking. The guy's a bit raw yet and I don't think he's going to fix the problems on the blueline *right now* (unless he's a doctor too). Big get for next season though. He's not Schultz and the Wings are certainly not Edmonton. It'll be a different thing.

So, it looks like Visnovsky doesn't mind playing for the Isles, after all. 2 year deal with a NMC.

Crosby received a puck to the face against the Isles and he will not be back for the rest of the game. Hope it doesn't turn into a concussion for him.

This seems to be happening more and more lately. I wish I knew why. DET's Brian Lahsoff took pucks to the face in back-to-back games and he wears a visor even. To me, visors still aren't the answer apparently. There's something else that needs to be addressed.

Yeah, Staal's eye a couple of weeks ago. Crosby received a puck on the face in February too.

Do the Blues really need Leopold's limited skillset on their blueline? I didn't think they did... seems an odd fit.
